From the Ground Up is perhaps, the most lovely quest of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It puts players to gather resources to help an experienced carpenter build a town, while looking for merchants and people of interest whose names end with -son. At the end of the quest Tarrey Town is inaugurated, and players gain access to new merchants and a free Inn to stay.

There are a few hidden details in Tarrey Town that can make your day if you were to find them, as they make this lovely place feel more alive. Check this list and learn more about this little town that you helped built from the ground up.

10 The View

One of the most interesting things about the quest From The Ground Up is that you can hop onto any of the houses from Tarrey Town and have a nice view of the central part of the Akkala Region.

If you look east of Tarrey Town you’ll have a good look of the Akkala Tower and the Torin Wetland, where a couple of Guardians are running at random directions, at its southeast lies a Fairy Fountain, and if you get close to its northern side and then have a look to the west below Tarrey Town’s bridge you’ll see a very particular merchant who only appears if you have helped him before.

9 Kilton’s Shop

Kilton is a very interesting secret merchant, which unlocks his shop once players talk to him at the bottom of the Skull Lake during the night, where he stands on the small island that’s shaped like the left eye of the skull-shaped lake.

After you speak to him, he’ll randomly appear on the outskirts of some of the larger towns of Hyrule. Tarrey Town is one of the places where he sets up his shop, which is very nice as the Akkala region has a lot of monsters to farm their parts to trade with Kilton.

8 Tarrey Town’s Secret Shop

No, this entry isn’t about Kilton’s shop. After you’ve completed the quest From the Ground Up, you’ll find Granté, a merchant who sets up his shop at the rooftop patio of the first house to the right of the town’s entrance.

He sells very rare armor and weapons at very high prices, but they’re definitely worth it if you need strong weapons or if you lost one of your unique armor by mistake. He’s also the only child of Jerrin and Robbie, a couple of researchers who live at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab.

7 The Little Girl Who Eats Monsters

There’s a little girl in Tarrey Town called Hunnie who’s going through some rough times, and you can hear her parents argue about her health if you sneak to the back of her house. They’ll tell you that Hunnie is sick, and she needs to eat something to get better: a cake.

But not any cake, Hunnie needs to eat a Monster Cake, which is made using a Monster Extract as an ingredient. The thing is that the main way of getting that ingredient is by trading monster parts with Kilton, and then buy the Monster Extract from him. Apparently, the Monster Cake is very sweet, so maybe Hunnie is onto something.

6 Bombing Forests

One of the most boring parts of From the Ground Up is the astounding amounts of wood that you must gather to build the town. Many players just got the quest and forgot about it once they saw how much wood they had to obtain, others just did other things while saving their lumber, and others literally bombed forests.

Yes, you can obtain an incredible amount of wood by bombing forests across Hyrule, as explosions can take down trees and convert them into lumber, and since trees always re-spawn it’s a good farming strategy. Oh, and by the way, any fruit hanging on the trees that you bomb will drop to the ground, happy farming!

5 A Town Of Dreams

Players who don’t pay attention to the story will find themselves confused as to why random people from Hyrule suddenly want to leave their lives and journey into a deserted land in the Akkala Region.

Well, each one of the merchants whose name ends in -son wanted to have their own shops in a brand new town, as they didn’t feel comfortable at the places where they lived. Players who read everything already knew where to find them since they could be talked to even before the quest began.

4 The Map Reflects The Town’s Development

If for some reason you never went to the Akkala region before starting the quest, then you probably never saw how the land where Tarrey Town is located looked before Hudson got there.

A redditor thought about this, and after checking his map the user found out that Link’s map reflects each change that’s done on Tarrey Town, as each time a house or shop is built it is shown on the map in real-time.

3 Tarrey Town’s Bell

At some point during the From the Ground Up quest, a structure with a bell on top will spawn at the center of Tarrey Town. The bell is there just for looks, but players can move the bell by shooting arrows at it or by using Magnesis.

Something of note is that the bell is glitched and will disappear forever at random. If you just realized that your Tarrey Town doesn’t have a bell, well, you’d have to start a new save file if you want to see it.

2 The Dog Knows The Way

One of the lesser-known mechanics of Breath of the Wild is that if you gain a dog’s trust they’ll help you discover hidden secrets. After you have finished the quest From The Ground Up, two dogs will appear in Tarrey Town, one has dark gray fur and the other a beige fur.

If you gain the dark gray dog’s trust, it will lead you towards a secret chest buried in the ground. To gain its trust you can either feed it or play with it, feeding is the easier option as you only need to give it three pieces of meat.

1 The Golden Rupee

While this hidden rupee isn’t exactly on Tarrey Town, it’s a good thing to look for if you ever need to buy something after finishing the quest From the Ground Up. To find it, just go to the northeast edge of the town, and then glide down to the small patch of ground that touches the lake at the bottom.

Now that you’re at the bottom, you can scout for a metal chest using Magnesis, and after you see where it’s located you just need to use Cryonis to get close enough to pull the chest out of the water using Magnesis.
