Climbing in Breath Of The Wild is one of the most important mechanics in the game, and it can save you time that you would otherwise spend following a path. Additionally, some locations are only available by using your climbing ability, so it's essential depending on what content you're trying to complete.

There are some ways to boost your climbing ability in Breath Of The Wild, such as increasing your stamina and eating foods that increase your speed. However, the Climbing Gear is the most important tool that you can use to vastly improve your climbing ability. The following guide will show you how to collect the Climbing Gear in Breath Of The Wild.

What Effects Do You Receive From The Climbing Gear?

The Climbing Gear is one of the best armor sets in Breath Of The Wild. This armor set increases your climbing speed, which is one of the most important attributes since a lot of the game takes place climbing mountains and other structures.

There are three pieces of Climbing Gear, and each of them provides a small bonus towards climbing speed, so combining them massively improves the times it takes to climb. The Climbing Gear is particularly useful if you don't have a lot of stamina or if you combine it with other speed bonuses. You can also mix individual pieces of the Climbing Gear with other armor sets, which may be perfect if you want to create a unique combination.

How To Get The Climbing Gear

There are three pieces of Climbing Gear in Breath Of The Wild. You need to collect all of them if you want to gain the strongest climbing speed bonus; however, you can also equip each piece separately if you only collect a single piece. Here's how to collect every type of Climing Gear and a picture detailing where on the map you can find each location.

Climbing Gear Torso

The torso piece of the Climbing Gear set rests inside the Chaas Qeta shrine. This shrine is in the middle of the water on the eastern part of Hyrule, so it's a location that's easy to overlook if you aren't focusing on side content in the open world. There's a picture above of the shrine's exact location.

Getting to the Chaas Qeta shrine is a harder trip than many other shrines since it's in the middle of the water, and you need to use a boat or the Cryonis ability to traverse the ocean. However, the real challenge starts when you enter it. You will enter a combat challenge, and you'll need to defeat the guardian before you can obtain the Climbing Gear.

Bring your strongest weapons to tackle this challenge, and arrows are particularly useful if you don't have many powerful melee weapons or if you have low health. It may be too difficult to complete this challenge if you don't have enough weaponry or health, so you can always return to this shrine later when you've collected more spirit orbs.

Once you defeat the guardian, you can open a chest to obtain the Climbing Gear and then claim the spirit orb. After you collect both rewards, leave the shrine and travel to the next location.

Climber's Bandana

The Ree Dahee shrine is the next location you need to visit to collect the Climbing Gear. You can find this shrine near the Dueling Peaks, which is a location in the West Necluda region of Hyrule. These mountains are very prominent, so it's hard to miss the Dueling Peaks if you're looking for them. You can see the shrine's location on the map above.

The puzzle inside the Ree Dahee shrine is easy compared to the combat challenge you had to face in the previous shrine. All you have to do is stand on a few buttons to manipulate platforms with balls on them and then step off of the button at the right time, which allows you to set the orb into the correct place. The Climber's Bandana is inside a chest on the left side of the spirit orb altar, and it's easy to get to; however, be careful not to fall because it's on a high platform. After you've acquired the Climber's Bandana, collect the spirit orb and exit the shrine. There's only one stop left until you have every piece of the Climbing Gear armor set.

Climbing Boots

The previous two shrines featured challenges; however, the Tahno O'ah shrine is the easiest if you know where to find it. You're supposed to locate this shrine during the "Secret Of The Cedars" mission, which is a shrine quest that you can receive by speaking with Clavia inside Hateno Village. You may already know about this quest if you've spoken to many of the villagers in Hateno Village. Normally you'd have to line up three trees on a mountain to find the Tahno O'ah shrine; however, you don't have to complete the shrine quest if you already know the exact location of the shrine.

You can use the above picture of the shrine's map location as guidance. This area has a lot of snow, so bring some items or armor with you that can protect you against cold temperatures.

The Tahno O'ah shrine is resting at the bottom of Madorna Mountain, which is a smaller part of Mount Lanayru. You can glide down to it from the top of the mountain to make the journey faster. You'll find a collection of rocks blocking the path into the shrine, so use a bomb and break the rocks. Behind the rocks, you'll see a small cave with the shrine inside. You can now enter the shrine.

There aren't any puzzles inside the Tahno O'ah shrine; however, one chest is directly in view once you enter the location. Open the chest to obtain the Climbing Boots, which is the last piece of armor in the equipment set. Claim the spirit orb and exit the shrine.
