Though Virtual Reality (VR) gives us a chance to experience games as we've never experienced them before, some should be avoided, as one Legend of Zelda fan recently discovered that playing through Ocarina of Time in VR is truly terrifying.

VR headsets allow gamers' experiences to be taken to new heights due to increased immersion and a touch of realism. Just imagine how a video game set underwater or in outer space would feel in VR. However, not every game looks good in VR.

Recently, YouTuber SwankyBox had the opportunity to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in VR for 24 hours and detail his experience for those curious enough to find out more. SwankyBox is a "huge" fan of the game and has played it many times before. However, experiencing the game from a new perspective would prove to be a "haunting experience" for him.

According to SwankyBox, even though the experience was "worth it," there were a number of problems with the experience. For instance, the VR camera was stuck inside Link’s forehead, so objects and cliff edges would either block SwankyBox's field of vision or appear to be further away. As he mentions at one point in the video, "If you slip off a ledge and grab the edge, your cameras flip because Link is facing outwards. You might accidentally let go because of the sudden shift."

Technical difficulties weren't the only issues present during the 24-hour playthrough, however. Wearing a VR headset for a long time proved to be an exhausting experience for SwankyBox and eventually gave him a headache. To deal with his headache and regain his energy, SwankyBox would sleep on top of Mido's house in the Kokiri Fores or on the watchtower in Kakariko Village since they were relatively peaceful and there were no enemies close by.

The reason why SwankyBox called his VR experience "haunting" was due to the fact that it is something he will never forget. Essentially, he was free from all distractions, such as phone calls, messages, or emails, and was able to fully immerse himself in the game.
