Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is Traveller's Tales' most ambitious project yet - a game that collects adventures from all nine mainline Star Wars movies into one Bantha-sized package. It's terrific fun, even when you're playing through stories that the movies may have let down.

Rather than just combine the two previously unadapted movies with a rerelease of prior entries and call it a day, Traveller's Tales has remade each section from the ground up with modern gameplay mechanics and gorgeous visuals. The result is the ultimate Lego game for Star Wars fans. Here are a few things most of us can be caught doing while they're playing it.

Updated on December 14, 2022 by Doruk Kaptan: The Lego games have always been fan favorite casual couch co-op titles. They strike the perfect balance of whacky and rewarding. Star Wars is considered the gold standard for Lego games, and The Skywalker Saga has managed to be the definitive version.

Available on various platforms, the game encourages players to experience it wherever they are. It is fun, deep, and can easily lead to hours sunk into it as you collect items across the galaxy. With its release on Xbox Game Pass, we decided to add a few more things to the list.

10 Try To Complete The Collectibles

As with any Lego game out there, collectibles and unlocks are a huge part of the Skywalker Saga. Including a myriad of collectibles such as the Kyber Crystals, Data Cards, Ships, and Characters, the game is full of things to find.

Luckily, the core gameplay is so fun, and the locations are so well-built that it's never too much of a hassle to collect these items. Most of them are also useful in some way or another, adding to the experience as a whole. Collectibles are expected from any Lego game, but The Skywalker Saga incorporates them in a great way.

9 Destroy Everything

Once again, this is a hallmark of the genre, as almost all Lego games give you various incentives to go out into the world and break all the breakable blocks you can find. This is a great way to collect studs and is absolutely encouraged. The fun factor goes double for The Skywalker Saga, as destruction through the Force and Lightsabers is so much more fun than other means.

Since there are various character classes in The Skywalker Saga, the pure fun of destruction never gets old either, as you have lots of different characters and skills to test out. Some of the best characters to break things with have to be the Rancor and General Grievous by far. This feels even more satisfying once you unlock a few stud multipliers and are able to watch them rack up fast.

8 Ride Gonk Droids.

A very random and inconsequential thing you can do in The Skywalker Saga is to ride Gonk Droids. These droids have very little purpose to begin with, occasionally helping you unlock a door or open a hatch. However, the characters look hilarious riding on top of them, and the developers knew that for sure.

The Gonk Droid has become almost a mascot over the years. In this game alone, there is a side quest revolving around Gonkatine, the Gonk Emperor, a playable Gonk Droid, and even a Golden Gonk Droid you can unlock as an extra to follow you around. The Gonk Droids are mostly pointless, purposeless cubes that walk around, and we all love riding them around.

7 Laugh At All The Hilarious Jokes

If there's one thing the Lego games are known for, it is their side-splitting humor. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga continues that tradition with some of the funniest gags we've seen in the entire Lego game series. Nearly every cutscene is interspersed with some of these jokes, which range from chuckle-inducing to full-blown belly laughs while you roll on the floor with tears in your eyes.

Some jokes are very self-aware and will reward players for knowing the ins and outs of the Star War Universe. We won't spoil any of the jokes here, but just know that you'll be playing with a smile plastered across your face for the better part of your time with the game.

6 Play In Mumble Mode

Despite the Lego franchise moving towards voice acting and giving it all the care it needs, many fans, and especially older ones, reminisce about the days when the figures spoke in unintelligible mumbles. Luckily, Traveller's Tales put an option to turn on the classic mumble mode into the game, and the game is so much better because of that.

There's just something special about having Luke and Darth Vader mumble hilariously in a dramatic moment as opposed to talking about their feelings. While the option to have voice acting is great, the classic grunts and groans are irreplaceable. Especially in this game, as the original Lego Star Wars was one of the classics that made the mumbles iconic.

5 Visit Iconic Locations From The Franchise

The Star Wars movies might be set in a galaxy far, far away, but that doesn't mean that some of its locations wouldn't make for beautiful tourist destinations. And as though the team at Traveller's Tales was acutely aware of this fact, most of those locations have been turned into fully explorable hub worlds.

Each movie is structured into its own chapter in the latest Lego Star Wars game, and once players have made their way through them in the story campaign, they are free to explore their mini sandboxes to their heart's content. From the sandy dunes of Tatooine to the dense forests of Endor, each location has been beautifully recreated from the ground up using the new NTT engine. They've also been populated with tons of Easter eggs and collectibles, ensuring that the player is never short of things to see and do.

4 Skip To Their Best Moments

Let's face it, not every facet of The Skywalker Saga is equally beloved. There are those who live and die by the redemptive qualities of the prequel trilogy, just as we have those who believe The Rise of Skywalker is a slap in the face of the entire Star Wars fandom.

As a result, one of the first things players of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga end up doing is playing those portions of the game from the movies they feel the strongest affinity to. Whether it is the awesome trench run from A New Hope or the duel between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the fiery pits of Mustafar, there's no shortage of moments for players to choose from. The game is effectively a celebration of Star Wars through those moments, and most players do so by reenacting their favorite ones.

3 Main Their Favorite Characters

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga features a staggering 384 playable characters for you to play as or unlock, but chances are hardcore fans of the franchise would only be playing as a handful of those. It is highly recommended to experiment, though, as some character models are just amazing.

Each character is grouped into one of 10 character classes that range from Jedi to Protocol Droid, with each group sharing some key stats and upgrades. We, of course, have fan favorites like Luke Skywalker and Master Yoda, as well as random Stormtroopers and various Resistance fighters. Players are able to switch between characters on the fly, and while the game does force you to play as other characters from time to time, chances are you'll be jumping back into the shoes of your favorite ones at the earliest opportunity.

2 Mix And Match Characters From Different Eras

All Star Wars Lego characters pose together for a group photo.

One big advantage of playing Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is that it includes all three generations of Star Wars as well as all nine movies. This allows for an extremely robust character roster and gives you a sizable chunk of the franchise as a whole, as opposed to other trilogy games where you only get a taste.

With so many characters at your disposal, it's natural to want to mix and match them, as many players do. It's a great way to imagine what an adventure between Poe Dameron and Han Solo would look like. Maybe you want Yoda and The Emperor to hang out in Crait for a while? There are some specific dialogues as well, which makes this even more fun than it already is.

1 Screw Up To See How It Affects The Story

The Lego games might be pretty wacky by themselves, but they always tend to follow the same general story beats as the properties they are based on. The same is certainly true of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which charts the events of all nine movies with hilarious asides every now and then.

But many players often look for other opportunities for comedy gold within the game, and their primary means of doing so is by willfully failing at the game's story-related objectives. If you've ever wondered what would've happened if Darth Maul had won the fight with Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, then now's your chance to find out. And while there might be no way to truly save the convoluted mess the sequel trilogy ended up becoming, it doesn't hurt to mess with it even further just to see what happens.
