As is customary in the Japanese video game industry, publications are approaching every developer they can think of to ask them what they thought of 2020 and what we can expect in 2021. And as usual, we’re getting a few interesting hints at what next year might bring.

Speaking to 4Gamer, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino said that he was most impressed by Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020, noting that his 60 hours have been relatively bug-free although he acknowledges that wasn’t the case for everyone.

And as for 2021, Akihiro said that Level-5 will continue to create quality content for the whole family, which will also include something that hasn’t been announced yet.

"We are preparing an unreleased new work,” said Akihiro, “and I can't talk about the details yet, but we are steadily proceeding, so please look forward to it as well."

We’ve got no details to go on, but given the studio’s previous work on Yo-Kai Watch, Ni no Kuni, and Little Battlers franchises, it’s a pretty good bet it’ll be a new entry into one of those series. None of which I particularly care for. I’m here for Rogue Galaxy 2. It’s been 13 years, dammit, we’ve waited long enough!
