Fans of the popular episodic graphic adventure game Life Is Strange 2 are in the home stretch, as the season finale "Wolves" launches today. Described as "explosive" by the developer team, the ending of the series once again depends on the player's choices in the same way the first installment did.

The first episode launched on September 27th, 2018, making it more than a year since players began their journey with brothers Sean and Daniel. Developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Square Enix for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, the game was picked up by Feral Interactive for the macOS and Linux versions. But there is still no release date for those two platforms, so the long-awaited endings might be spoiled for Mac and Linux users. Along with the final episode launching today, the UK audience is also getting a physical edition package with all five episodes. The US equivalent is expected to hit the market on February 4th, 2020.

In the press release from Square Enix, the episode is briefly described to avoid spoiling too much. It reads: "In the thrilling season finale, Sean and Daniel are on the home stretch. However, to reach their goal of Puerto Lobos, Mexico, they will need to evade the police, the FBI, and the vigilantes patrolling the border. Can the Wolf Brothers endure and succeed – or will their journey end, so close to their goal?"

In this installment, the main character Daniel has telekinetic powers. For comparison, in the original Life Is Strange, Max had the ability to rewind time, which meant she could choose different dialogue options and even evade certain events. Considering how the finale of the first game left people broken-hearted - without spoiling too much for those of you who haven't played it - it is fair to expect that the second will follow in its footsteps with an equally wrenching choice that the player will be forced to make, even if the games differ in other key details.

"Today, the journey is coming to an end. For us, as was the case for Max and Chloe, the story of Sean and Daniel is over, and we now have to let them go. It’s up to them to fly on their own, to take their independence," writes the game's co-creator and writer, Jean-Luc Cano, on its Tumblr blog. "It is therefore with great pride, but also a little sadness and nostalgia, that we wish good luck to our Wolf Brothers."

A third game has not yet been announced and may never be, although the people behind the series have expressed their desire to continue telling these stories. Meanwhile, all we can do is wait, hope, and try to do the right thing in the finale– or at least our version thereof.
