This chapter is absolutely packed with content. Like A Dragon: Ishin is clearly compensating for the previous chapter being so light on gameplay. Here you will battle through the streets in an attempt to stop a rampaging Okita, you will fight multiple bosses, and you will perform a raid on the Teradaya which is stacked with Tosa Loyalists.

There is a lot to do, and there are a lot of obstacles to overcome. Naturally, we will guide you through each and every last one of them. From tips on how to overcome the bosses, to notes on where you will find items squirreled away, we've got you covered!

The Road To Mukurogai

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma battling through the Shinsengumi

You will start this chapter back at the Teradaya again. From here, go straight to the Shinsengumi barracks. First, talk to Nagakura outside the gate, then, enter the base itself. You will learn about the unfortunate fate of Inoue. After a cutscene, Okita will lose his cool and head out. You need to head down to Fushimi and stop him before he makes too much of a mess of things.

The Palanquin service will be unavailable, so you will have to make your way on foot. You will intercept three of the first division troops attacking a civilian in Rakunai. These guys aren't particularly tough. Once you are done with them, the palanquin bearers will be available again. You can use them to fast-travel straight to where Inoue's body was found. You will run into Yamazaki, who will tell you that Okita is in Mukurogai.

Unfortunately, the boatman who would typically take you there will refuse, and the palanquin service is, once again, not operational. So, you are going to have to get there by way of Rakugai. Unsurprisingly, you are going to fight your way through multiple groups of Shinsengumi on your way to Mukurogai.

Like A Dragon Ishin, The Boatman won't take you to Mukurogai

Once you enter Mukurogai, the area will be lined with first-division Shinsengumi, but you won't need to fight any of them. You will find Okita on the second floor. You will now face off against the mad dog once more. But this time he's madder. Dun dun dun!

Boss Fight: Okita

Like A Dragon Ishin, Okita coming to fight

Okita is pretty similar to the first fight. However, he is faster and more aggressive. Let's start by covering the stuff that returns from the first fight. For starters, that one attack where he leaps at you and repeats a quick jumping strike four times, returns. Much like in the first fight, this is very quick, but it doesn't break your guard.

During the second phase of the fight, he will once again use the attack where he taunts while in an invincible state, before leaping up into the air and plunging his sword into the ground, causing an explosion of dark energy. This move works the exact same as it did in the previous fight. It is completely blockable. It will break your guard, but you won't be vulnerable long enough for him to capitalize.

As for his new stuff... Okita now has the thrusting attack that the ninja from the beginning of the game had. These three thrusts are rangy but entirely blockable. He will also gain a new standard, four-hit combo attack. This combo starts with a thrust, followed by two quick downward slash attacks before it finishes with an upward slash. This final attack will break your guard. He also will sometimes use a thrust attack that is immediately followed up by a quick horizontal slash. This sequence is blockable but does a fair bit of damage if it hits.

In fact, that is sorta the story of this fight. Most of Okita's stuff is blockable, but the moves can be quite quick, and if they hit then you will take a significant amount of damage. However, since Okita never transitions into his tanto, he never starts using his more evasive attacks. This means you don't have to worry about your positioning as much as you did in your first dual. He will, for the most part, stand right in front of you. Your strategy, then, is to put your guard up, block his attacks, and then punish him. Keep on him, and you will inevitably fell the enraged Okit

The Brawler's parry is also quite effective against this version of Okita. Though, for this fight, we like the increased damage the Swordsman attacks do. Of course, you can get the best of both worlds by switching between the two styles.

Teradaya Raid

After calming down Okita, you will get a series of cutscenes. You will then be told that the Ryoma impersonator is staying at the Teradaya. You will now be running around Gion. There will be a memoir sitting in front of the ryotei, so grab that. Now, head to the palanquin on the north end of Gion and take it to Fushimi. Head straight to the Teradaya. Get ready for a brawl, as you are going to be engaging in a pretty action-packed raid.

Like A Dragon Ishin, The Fine Silk Fabric hiding in the back room

You will need to fight nine troops once you kick the door down. Thankfully, Okita is here to aid you. There is Fine Silk Fabric in the room north of the courtyard. So, make sure to grab that before you progress. Once you have taken out the nine troops, destroy the debris blocking your path to the stairs. A man on the second floor will throw a piece of furniture down at you, separating you from Okita and forcing you to make your way around.

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma cutting through the debris

Head back to where you entered the Teradaya from; there is another hallway blocked by debris, break it down. You will fight a few soldiers in the process. Head through the hallway, and you will now be reunited with Okita. At the top of the stairs, you will find another group of troops. The toughest of the bunch is the sumo wrestler, he has armor and hits hard. However, he isn't resistant to knockdowns.

Once you have cleared this group, cut your way through the shoji walls near the debris blocking the hallway. You will find yourself in another room with more troops. Make sure to collect the silver hammer in the corner of the room. Clear out this room, then move on to the next. This group has a tall samurai wielding a huge odachi. This guy is much, much tougher than the average samurai. He has a ton of health, and his giant sword gives him excellent range. You still fight him the same way you would any swordsman, but it will take longer.

Finally, at the end of the hallway, you will be able to confront the false Sakamoto Ryoma.

Boss Fight: Komuso

Like A Dragon Ishin, The Komuso and his men

Once you finally confront the false Sakamoto Ryoma (who will be referred to as "Komuso", which is what that straw basket helmet is called), you will also have to fight against his three companions. However, Okita will also be accompanying you, so you are essentially on even footing.

Like A Dragon Ishin, Komuso deflecting Ryoma's attack

Komuso primarily has one combo that he likes to use. It hits four times, and it doesn't break your guard. He also has a spinning horizontal slash that he will use on occasion, this will catch you if you are approaching him from his backside recklessly. He is also a big fan of deflecting your attacks. So, be prepared to cut your combos short. If he deflects your attack, you are going to want to go on the defensive, as he will typically follow up with that four-hit combo.

Like A Dragon Ishin, Komuso using his flaming sword attack

Once you get Komuso's health down to about a third, his sword will become engulfed in flames. As far as we can see, this literally changes nothing about how you should fight Komuso, it just means that if you do get hit you will take significantly more damage.

When fought head-on, Komuso isn't particularly tough. However, he is more of a problem with you are being ganked by his buddies. So, priority number one should be clearing out the other enemies in the room. Positioning yourself near Okita can be helpful, as he will be able to provide backup, and draw some of their attention. Just make sure you never have your back to Komuso, as he does hit hard.

Like A Dragon Ishin, Ryoma and Okita double teaming Komuso

Once all the other enemies are dead, just face Komuso head-on in your swordsman stance. Block his combo, and then follow up with one of your own. Okita will be doing his own thing, slashing Komuso, and occasionally pinning him down with his sword-thrusting combo. When Okita pins down Komuso with a combo, you should charge up a big attack. It will only be a matter of time before you defeat this imposter once it is two versus one. After you beat Komuso, this chapter will be finished. All you will need to do after that is watch the cutscenes.
