Gamers have plenty to be excited about when it comes to this year’s TwitchCon. From educational workshops to meetups with some of the community’s biggest names, attendees won’t have trouble filling their schedule.

That being said, there is one reason for those who were lucky enough to get tickets to the sold-out convention to be upset. Lil Nas X, who was set to perform at tonight’s TwitchCon party, canceled at the last minute.

The star pleaded to fans and festival attendees on Twitter. “It’s been a wild 7 months and I’m ready to take a little time off,” he writes. "Sorry to everyone attending TwitchCon or the Sandbox Music Festival, I will not be there. I love u guys and will make it up to you some way."

A few TwitchCon ticket holders and performers were immediately vocal in their disappointment regarding the decision.

However, Lil Nas X is mostly being met by an outcry of support from his fans.

To be fair, the young artist has hardly had time to breathe this year. Following the viral success of his hip-hop/country crossover hit, Lil Nas X has been on a non-stop joyride of talk-show appearances, studio sessions, festival headlines, and who knows what else.

To say he’s accomplished a lot is an understatement. For instance, Old Town Road broke the record as the longest-running song at the Billboard #1 spot—topping the chart for 19 straight weeks.

Fitting an entire music career into one year sounds like a dream come true, but his warp-speed ascension to fame comes with its own set of challenges. It’s only natural that he would want some time to slow down and catch his breath.

Even without Lil Nas X, the show must go on. Blink-182, Madeon, Y2k, and Au/Ru are still set to perform. The TwitchCon party kicks off at 7 p.m. and features food, drinks, games, and more in Petco Park.

TwitchCon tickets are sold out. So, if you already have your ticket, you won’t be able to catch the show.

However, many of TwitchCon’s exclusive events, performances, and workshops are being streamed online. Catch your favorite streamers in the Twitch Rivals tournament or join in on the action with the official broadcast.
