Litten, the adorable Fire-type kitten Pokémon, can finally be witnessed in glorious HD thanks to Pokémon Home. The service's connective powers let Litten break free of its 3DS confines, move through the cloud, and find a new home on the Nintendo Switch.
That doesn't mean Litten can just be caught in Pokémon Sword & Shield, however. It doesn't even get an entry in the Galar Pokédex. Still, you can use it in battle, evolve it to its more powerful Incineroar form, or just watch it be cute at camp. You just have to get it first.
Transferring Litten Through Pokémon Home
Litten's debut games were Pokémon Sun & Moon. It then reappeared in the follow-ups Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Until Pokémon Home's release, these were the only games in which Litten could be legitimately obtained. You had to pick a Litten as your starter Pokémon or trade with someone who did.
Litten that exist in any of the Sun/Moon games can be put into Pokémon Bank. This 3DS app acts as a cloud storage and is essentially the predecessor to Pokémon Home. Since Home is all but replacing Bank, Nintendo is offering free month of Bank to encourage 3DS owners to migrate their Pokémon to Switch. You just need a paid Premium Plan for Home to unlock the 3DS transfer function.
If you want your Litten to make that journey, put it in Bank. Make sure Bank is updated to the latest version, and get Home on your Nintendo Switch. You'll need both consoles on at the same time. Find the menu options on both apps to set up a 3DS-to-Switch transfer, then follow the onscreen instructions. Litten, and any other Pokémon you designate, will show up in Home after a few minutes. Then it's just a matter of moving Litten from your Home box to your Sword or Shield box.
Trade With A Litten Owner
While Nintendo is trying to make things easy with the free month of Bank, many trainers still face obstacles. Maybe they lack a working 3DS, or simply don't want to fork over money for Pokémon Home's Premium Plan out of principle. Fortunately for these people, trading is a thing.
Pokémon Home has its own in-app trade function and you don't need Premium to use it. Just put a request in on the GTS. Or find a Pokémon trades discussion board and ask for Litten there. You could also work within Sword & Shield's trade system. Maybe a lucky Litten Wonder Trade will come your way.
Litten's Evolutions
Litten evolves into Torracat at level 17 and Incineroar at level 34. It does not have a Mega Evolution or Gigantamax form.
What Incineroar Does In Battle
Incineroar's flashy moves and high Attack won it a spot in Smash Bros. Trainers can bring that flair to their teams with moves like Darkest Lariat and Flare Blitz. Top it off with Swords Dance, and you can do some big damage. Just be careful about the fact that Incineroar is weak to many popular types. Consider giving it a Berry to heal it in tough situations.
