To say that the games that are a part of The Dark Pictures saga are a little odd would be an understatement. From wendigos to witches, it almost seems like everything goes with these games. Nevertheless, they are definitely entertaining, but there are things about them that don't make sense.

These oddities could be plotholes or just choices that the developers made that don't really seem like they should be a part of the game. What are these occurrences? You may have noticed them too. Check out these things about Little Hope that aren't quite right. Also, a quick note: you may want to bypass this if you haven't played the game, as there could be some spoilers below.

10 What Connection Do The Witch Trials Have To Anthony?

Mary Milton in 17th-century Little Hope by a campfire.

One of the primary stories that run through this game is the Little Hope witch trials. The Reverend Carver and his young accomplice, Mary, start accusing certain townspeople of being witches. Most of these accusations end in executions. This kind of thing did happen during the 17th-century in America, but the odd part is why was this something that Anthony imagined that his "current imaginary self" would face? What significance did these historical stories have to him? It just doesn't really make sense with the rest of the game.

9 Did A Real Spirit Visit Megan?

Megan and Tanya from Little Hope

Again, Anthony seems to have an obsession with witches and possession. When he remembers the tragedy of what happened to his family in the 1970s, he imagines that a spirit is influencing Megan. Who is this person? Why is this dark entity never mentioned again? It's kind of odd that we don't hear any elaboration of what Anthony thought that it was? Was it real, or his theory about what happened and how Meagan was involved imaginary?

8 How Did Anthony Survive The Fire?

Anthony in front of the house fire in Little Hope

At the beginning of the game, Anthony is seen trying to save his family and rushes into his burning home. The home falls around him. Later on in the game, we see that Anthony only sustained a burn on his ear. How did he get out of the house unscathed?

Did he imagine that he did that, or did it really happen? The former is suggested, but it is never confirmed. Why are we never given a concrete answer about what happened? It doesn't make sense as to why the developers wouldn't confirm this detail.

7 Are The 17-Century Characters Even Real?

Anne from Little Hope

The 17th-century crew of characters is seemingly prominent people in the town. Anne, John, Tabitha, and the others are all around. However, the issues arise because when you look at various maps or even the cemetery plot, you don't see any of these characters mentioned, or even their last names. There are traces of Reverend Carver's family, and the Clake family from the 1970s are seen on gravestones and markers throughout the town. So, who are these people?

6 Why Didn't Vince Realize What Was Going On?

Vince in Little Hope

This entry is a big spoiler, so bypass this if you haven't played the game. Nevertheless, it is confirmed that Anthony imagines most of the events in the game. It seems he has taken on the personas of his family members who perished. Anthony meets up with Vince—a townsperson and old family friend—throughout the game. Oddly, Vince doesn't notice Anthony seems to be suffering from a mental breakdown and talking to people who aren't there. Why wouldn't he see this?

5 What Is Angela's And Daniel's Relationship

Daniel in Little Hope

Toward the beginning of the game, we see that Angela is very interested in Daniel's relationship with Taylor. She seems to know much about both individuals, but what she knows is never elaborated on.

Additionally, Angela doesn't seem to like Taylor, but the reason why is also never expressed. This plotline could have been a significant part of the story that offered clues to what happened, but this discussion never happens. It doesn't make sense that the developers and writers would make this dynamic stand out initially and never address it.

4 Angela's Potential Demise

Angela from Little Hope

This part is another critical plot point in the game. Depending on whether you take the gun or not, a decision happens toward the latter part of the game where you contribute to Angela's death by shooting her (because you thought she was a monster). According to a walkthrough of the game by gaming YouTuber Gab Smolders, you weren't given a choice of whether to shoot her or not. So, it seems that the decision for Angela to die happens when you choose the gun. Why make it seem as if players have the choice to shoot or not during the event?

The present-day cast of Little Hope

During the beginning of the game, Anthony is shown with his brothers and sisters. While it is assumed that they are all related, we never find out if they are actually siblings. The situation looks as if they may all be adopted or are foster kids, but this is never confirmed. Again, understanding this dynamic would add even more layers to the game and add some context to the original scenes. It's a missed story opportunity that doesn't make sense.

2 What's The Nature Of Reverend Carver And Mary's Relationship

Mary and Carver from Little Hope

This may be one of the most disturbing aspects of the game. Reverend Carver definitely has an alarming relationship with Mary, but we never find out the nature of this.

The way it is done is not in an artistic "let's leave it to the imagination of the audience" kind of thing; it feels clumsy, and like the developers forget to address this legitimately. There are no clues to what was happening, so it looks as if this was created just for conflict, which makes no sense.

1 The Police Never Stopped Anthony—Why?

Anthony on the bus in Little Hope

In the end, it becomes clear that Anthony manufactured most of the story. However, there is a crucial moment where all of this could have been prevented. We see Anthony driving a bus down a road where a cop stops him. The officer looks on the bus and sees no one is there, even though Anthony says there is. Why did this officer never address this? It's plain to see that Anthony was in some trouble. Why didn't the officer step in?
