Little Town Hero is due to be released soon and Game Freak has released a twenty-minute trailer that shows off its gameplay and the opening scenes of the story.

Little Town Hero is an upcoming title by Game Freak and will be one of its rare non-Pokémon games. The story of Little Town Hero is set in a village where the residents are not allowed to leave. The main character wants to see the outside world, but he is unable to leave the village due to a massive castle that guards the only exit. One day, a monster attacks the village and it's up to the main character to fight back using a mystical red stone that he found buried in the coalmines. Little Town Hero's soundtrack is being composed by Toby Fox of Undertale fame, which marks his first collaboration with Game Freak.

Game Freak has released a new video that shows off the unique gameplay of Little Town Hero, which is presented by YouTuber Ponyta Ishii. The trailer shows off the early stages of the game, including what appears to be the tutorial for the battle system and the manner in which the player moves between the areas of the world map.

Little Town Hero has charming visuals and the pedigree behind its soundtrack means that it should also have incredible music. The gameplay style of Little Town Hero seems to be inspired by board games and card games, with the combat system based around the concept of ideas and coming up with new strategies. The low price point for Little Town Hero and the fact that it's described as having a "compact story progression" on the official Nintendo page for the game suggests that it won't be very long, but there are plenty of people who prefer fitting short game experiences into their busy schedule, rather than attempting epic games that they're never going to finish.

Little Town Hero will be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 16, 2019.
