The latest Marvel show on Disney+ has come to a climatic end...for at least one season. Marvel’s Loki has been confirmed for a second season, guaranteeing fans far more of the God of Mischief. The finale left fans perplexed, confused, excited, and anxious for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a series that’s completely different from anything comic fans have experienced, Loki took us on a temporal rollercoaster for the ages.

Throughout the show, many different forms of Loki appear, called Variants. From a reptile to an old man, Lokis come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Although each carries the God of Mischief mantel, some stand out above the others as having more of that Loki vibe. Just like what Loki mentions to the Time Variance Authority, there are lesser kinds of Loki.

11 Cyclist Champion Loki

In the second episode before the TVA and Loki take off for 1985 Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Owen Wilson’s Mobius displays a variety of past Loki Variants the TVA has encountered. Mobius mentions how Loki Variants are quite high on the TVA’s prune list.

One of the Lokis is seen holding up a trophy that has a striking resemblance to the Tour de France trophy, the Lanterne Rouge (Red Lantern). Labeled Variant L1247, this Loki seemed to have a different idea of “glorious purpose,” which included becoming a cycling champion and not an omnipotent god.

10 Buff Loki

loki buff variant

Due to Loki being of the Frost Giant race and not Asgardian, it’s not a surprise to see a much more physically dominant Loki Variant. Instead of using his shape-shifting abilities to appear more like an Asgardian, Loki might’ve grown accustomed to his natural form.

Aside from his muscular upgrade, Buff Loki also has large patches of hair on his shoulders, chest, and forearms. The Frost Giants in the MCU didn’t have that type of body hair, but it’s possible Marvel adjusted. Because this Loki doesn’t appear blue, we still imagine he did grow up among Asgardians. Maybe he just lifted weights with Thor and enjoyed bro time?

9 Frost Giant Loki

What if Loki was never raised by Asgardians and grew up as a Frost Giant? Well, here he is. Fans got a glimpse of Frost Giant Loki in a flashback scene in the first Thor movie when Loki’s past was being revealed. Odin held the little blue babe in his hands and watched as Loki slowly shifted his shape to resemble the All-Father.

Variant L6792 seems to be if Loki was never taken into the loving care of Odin, and he wouldn't have been a brother to Thor, either. It would’ve been interesting to see the difference in his upbringing among Frost Giants instead of Asgardians.

8 Viking Loki

loki viking variant

Staying true to his Norse background, Viking Loki appears how Asgardians were portrayed in ancient stories. It’s been said that Asgardians have traveled to Midgar (Earth) since the Viking era, so this Loki Variant sticks to the source material.

While Thor is usually the first god to come to mind when speaking in Norse mythology, Loki’s name shouldn’t be too far behind. In Norse mythology, Loki is a trickster god who killed Balder, the son of Odin. It’s possible in this reality that the TVA pruned Viking Loki during the old Norse era.

7 Boastful Loki

loki boastful variant

Lokis are supposed to be more than resourceful, witty, and maybe charming. What truly makes a Loki is their ability to lie, and unfortunately in Boastful Loki’s cause, he surely lacks in that department. But hey, at least he tries.

When the Loki Variants are detailing their personal Nexus Events, Boastful Loki explains that he triumphantly vanquished Captain America and Iron Man, and obtained all six Infinity Stones. By the look of his hammer, it’s easy to think he’s telling the truth, but the other Variants don’t buy it. What God of Mischief can’t lie to himself?

6 President Loki

President Loki is inspired by the Vote Loki comics from 2016, where Loki sought the Highest Office in the Land. In the show, Boastful Loki betrays the group of Lokis to President Loki to remove the young king from his throne.

There's not much detail into how or why this Variant was captured, but it can be assumed it dealt with Loki trying to control the United States through its government. And knowing how much of a silver-tongue he is, the God of Mischief would fit right in with American politicians.

5 Alligator Loki

Admittingly, seeing Alligator Loki was pretty weird, but it soon made us realize it’s not the looks that make the Loki. Pruned for eating the wrong neighbor’s cat (it happens), Alligator Loki has found a new home in the Void with Classic Loki, Boastful Loki, and Kid Loki.

Although Alligator Loki is, well, an alligator, Classic Loki can understand him. When Boastful Loki talks about obtaining all six Infinity Stones, Classic Loki translates Alligator Loki's growl to let everyone know the reptile thinks he’s a liar. When Kid Loki’s lair gets invaded by President Loki, the reptile is the first to defend itself in battle, biting off his hand. So, regardless of the fact that our scaly god isn't a human, Alligator Loki is most assuredly a Loki.

4 Kid Loki

Don’t let the fact that Kid Loki isn’t old enough to drink Roxxiwine, even seated amongst other versions of himself. This teenager killed Thor in his reality and now claims ownership over the Void.

The Void may be his kingdom because he’s the only Loki to ever kill the Thunder God. Although Loki talks a big game, it always seemed like the God of Mischief only wanted to show Thor he can be bested, not necessarily kill him. However, Kid Loki does confess to possibly wanting to better himself, so maybe there’s hope for him? Did anyone say Young Avengers?

3 Loki

loki variant

Our God of Mischief has seen better days. After suffering an embarrassing defeat by the Avengers, Loki gets swept up by the TVA when he thought he had made a glorious escape. Now smack dab in the middle of something far greater than himself, Loki re-imagines himself and evolves from the close-minded, selfish villain that he was, to the courageous borderline hero he eventually became.

The interesting part of Loki’s inner transformation is that it wasn’t influenced by Mobius or the TVA. Loki’s change was influenced by his relationship with Sylvie, another Loki Variant. It’s poetic that he wanted to become a better person by learning self-love and how to love others by his experience with an alternate version of himself. Ultimately, Loki was destined to become something more than what he thought he was capable of.

2 Classic Loki

loki classic vairant

When Thanos attacked Thor’s ship at the beginning of Infinity War, many expected Loki to betray his brother yet again. But when the God of Mischief turned his blade on the Mad Titan, dying in the process, audiences also expected this to be another trick. Not only did the Disney+ show confirm Loki’s death by Thanos, but also gave legitimacy to this popular fan theory.

Classic Loki is who our Loki would've grown to be if he'd survived that final encounter with Thanos. He explains how he floated through space, eventually finding solitude on an isolated planet. After living through the majority of his life, Classic Loki tried to leave the planet because he missed Thor, and that's when the TVA apprehended him. Even in his older years, he still cared for his brother.

1 Sylvie

loki sylvie variant

Despite going by a completely different name, Sylvie is the most like a Loki out of them all. For all her life, Sylvie has hidden from the TVA at the ends of various worlds. She developed incredible enchantment abilities and fighting skills, she's witty and clever, but most importantly, Sylvie has what it takes to survive.

To survive along the Sacred Timeline and avoid recapture from the TVA, Sylvie never learned to trust anyone. Even after professing her love to Loki, she ultimately chose to send him away. But despite her broken life since she was a little girl, Sylvie has done exactly what Lokis are meant to do: Lokis survive.
