Another nightmare-fuelled excursion, another horrifying abomination to riddle with lead - such is the way of Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2. This time, the game continues to throw larger-than-life opponents at you, following in the meaty footsteps of Thespian. Ubbo-Sathla dwarfs everything you’ve encountered so far, however.
Ubbo-Sathla is less of a single entity, and more of a wall of pulsating, mutated flesh that corrupts the landscape with a hive-like series of growths and tumours. Ubbo-Sathla is, in short, disgusting. It doesn’t pull its punches, and from the word go, you will be under siege from just about every conceivable angle.
Ubbo-Sathla’s Attacks
Ubbo-Sathla, like most bosses in Lovecraft’s Untold Stories, doesn’t have many attacks. Similarly, that doesn’t make it any less of a threat. Ubbo-Sathla also has a fair few minions who are eager to tear you apart.

Ubbo-Sathla’s Mechanics
Ubbo-Sathla starts this fight with minions on the field, and will periodically summon more as time goes on. They come in two variants - tentacle and spitter. Tentacles are your standard Acid-applying enemies you’ve faced countless times before. The only difference here is that they have significantly more health.
The Spitters will rapid-fire Acid at you and are incredibly dangerous. They fire far faster than Ubbo-Sathla’s main body, and they can easily overwhelm you if you are not taking them out as they spawn in.
What makes this summoning mechanic interesting, however, is that each minion is linked to Ubbo-Sathla. If you hurt one of its minions, you will deal an equal amount of damage to Ubbo-Sathla. Killing its minions not only makes this fight easier but also makes it shorter.
Which Character To Use
You want a character that can move around at a decent speed and deal lots of damage. Range is absolutely not a factor here as the best way to deal with Ubbo-Sathla is to be up in its face (faces?). We found that the Witch was excellent in this fight, although she was also fairly unforgiving as her defences are low. The Detective also works wonders - especially with an upgraded Shotgun in his hands.
Battle Strategy
The plan is split into two phases:
- Minion Clearage
- Circle dance
Minion clearing is your priority as they litter most of the arena. You need to quickly take them out to prevent unwanted projectiles from being fired at you from every angle. Once that is done, you are good to fight Ubbo-Sathla directly.
You want to stand dead centre of Ubbo-Sathla’s immense body. This location will make it so its tentacles can’t hit you. With this position locked down, the only attack you need to worry about is its Acid Spit. All you have to do is move in a small circle. The tracking on this projectile is awful, so you should be able to effortlessly avoid damage.
Try not to make your circle too big as you could aggro the Tentacles and take some Bleed damage, which is not great. If your circle is too tight, you may also fail to dodge the projectile. Also, finally, don’t stand too close to Ubbo-Sathla as you want as much time as possible to avoid the attack.
With all of that in mind, all you have to do is fire in Ubbo-Sathla’s vague direction, and you will deal damage. Once it is dead, you are free to move on.
