Boss fights in Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 can feel like they are few and far between at times. Difficult core levels combined with a focus on crafting often leads to slow progression. Getting to Wendigo, however, will set you up for a few comparatively quick boss runs in the near future.

Naturally, you need to overcome Wendigo before any of that can happen, and that is easier said than done. Most bosses up until this point have been fairly basic, but Wendigo bucks that trend and ends up being one of the harder bosses in the game - period. Get ready for one heck of a one-sided encounter.

Wendigo’s Attacks

Wendigo has a lot of attacks, and those attacks come out quickly, deal a lot of damage, and can lead to a quick demise.

Attack

Explanation

Counter

Slow/Chill

Wendigo Chills your character, reducing their movement speed substantially.

This is what makes Wendigo so dangerous. If you don’t have the means to tackle Chill, such as a base immunity from equipment, for example, you are not going to be able to move. Either get the right equipment/consumables or bring a lot of healing.

Dash Attack

Wendigo jumps forward and attacks quickly.

This attack is only used when Wendigo is about half a screen away. Dodge backwards or to the side to avoid it.

Punch

Wendigo punches you for moderate damage.

This attack is typically used when you are next to Wendigo. Dodge away to prevent damage.

Summon Rats

Wendigo summons a swarm of rats that appear around you.

You don’t have a lot of time to react to this, so the moment you see the red sigils on the floor, dodge away and make some distance. These rats will often surround you, making you a much easier target.

Summon Monster

Wendigo will sometimes summon a large, toothy monster to attack you in addition to rats. This thing has a lot of HP, can deal a lot of damage, and inflicts stun on hit.

Kill it as quickly as possible and keep your distance so as to not get stunned.

Wendigo’s Mechanics

Wendigo doesn’t have any truly unique mechanics. Its game plan is simply to prevent you from moving, and then kill you when you are vulnerable. This will either be through its own attacks or through the summoning of lesser creatures to swarm you.

Which Character To Use

Lovecraft's Untold Stories 2 character selection

Mobility is key here, so Witch, Medium, and Detective shine the brightest. They all have some sort of movement mechanic that can get them to safety. Be warned that the Witch and Medium are a bit squishy in terms of HP, so are especially vulnerable to being swarmed and killed if you are caught off guard. The Detective also has access to grenades, which are ideal for taking out groups of enemies.

Battle Strategy

The first thing to note here is that Wendigo wants to lock you down with his (and his minions) movement effects. Before you fight Wendigo, you will need to choose how you are going to deal with this. Consumables can if you have access to them, as can specialise equipment. Being immune to Stun or Chill can make this fight much easier. Failing that, you are going to need a fair few healing items to absorb the damage directly.

With that out of the way, killing Wendigo is not that difficult. His attacks are simple, but numerous. His minions can easily overwhelm you too if you are not careful. Because of this, you want to focus on his minions from the moment they are summoned in.

With his minions dealt with, you are free to attack Wendigo directly, just beware of its ability to lunge at you to close the distance. Wendigo will frequently summon new minions, so break away from Wendigo when this happens, and then focus them down before re-engaging.

With Wendigo down, you are free to move on.
