Looks like British Nintendo fans are getting some love this fall. UK-based retailer GAME is offering pre-orders for Luigi's Mansion 3. That in and of itself isn't unusual, US fans can pre-order the game from GameStop right now if they want. What makes the UK special, however, is that GAME has a steelbook case for the game that glows in the dark.

The offer was brought to TheGamer's attention thanks to a post on the Nintendo Switch subreddit. User Frocharocha posted to let fellow Nintendo enthusiasts know that GAME had put up the special steelbooks on its website. Visiting the page reminds you of Luigi's Mansion 3's release date, October 31st, as well as how many days you have left to pre-order (only 86 as I write this!). There's also a small advertisement after the game's description.

It appears that the steelbook cover to Luigi's Mansion 3 will feature a glowing title, and will be exclusive to GAME. That essentially means it will be a UK-only affair as the store does not exist in other countries.

That being said, there might be ways for Nintendo fans who live in other parts of the world to get the steelbook. The comments in the Reddit post show that several users have allegedly tricked GAME into taking their order, despite the company's non-international shipping policy. The trick seems to be to format your phone number in the British way. Others simply used a dummy number, and some just ordered no problem. Of course, whether or not the game will actually ship come release time is a different story.

There's also a precedent set by Nintendo of America itself, which is to release the steelbook versions weeks after the game launches. This happened with both Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokémon Let's GO! Eeevee and Pikachu. Both got special steelbook cases that were Best Buy exclusive. However, most fans had already bought the games and were upset that Nintendo arranged it so they had to buy them again if they wanted the steelbooks.

If the pattern continues, Best Buy could eventually bring the Luigi's Mansion 3 glow in the dark steelbook to the US. For now, however, your best bet is to live in the UK or learn how to fake your phone number.

UPDATE: TheGamer reached out to Nintendo of America, who said they "don’t have any information on the special edition steel book for the US market at the moment."
