Super Mario games have been associated with two key features for their entire reign, those being timing and relentless grinding. The simple controls lull players into a false sense of security and a low entry point, giving beginners a false sense of confidence. It's the timing that will both catch you off guard and come in handy when you're looking to pull off the more difficult battle achievements in Luigi's Mansion.

It's never the hard task that prevents people from getting the achievement, a monotonous completion of a long task is more likely to make them drop off. The search for coins and gold has been a running theme that will haunt the loyal fans of the franchise, but commitment is key if you want to complete the game.

10 Suck Up All Merchandise In The Hotel Shops

This achievement isn't hard in the way that it will test your ability. It will, on the other hand, test your patience. While miscellaneous items don't fight back, when players are forced to collect everything in the place, things get a little tedious.

Often a few sweeps of all the shops are required to uncover all the moveable items. The fact that you're basically a spooky maid at this point does get old very fast. It's the monotony of the task at hand that makes this the most difficult, even considering some of the harder to stumble upon items.

9 Defeat Six Ghosts At Once

Taking on six enemies at once is a daunting task in itself. Luckily for the player, they don't have to be particularly strong, and the only caveat is the strict time rule. You have to take out all six enemies in one fell swoop. So, not only do you have to win a six against one, you have to time the ending perfectly.

The easiest way to accomplish this is by rallying six of the same ghost type around Luigi. At least then it's just a string of the same attack that you have to deliver individually. The real pain is making sure they all gather into range when you finally swing the final hit.

8 Revive Teammate 20 Times

Players will have to get a group together for the Scarescraper if they want to get this achievement. It's a little contradictory, but the ideal situation would be a team of rookies. You're essentially leading the team to the slaughter, only for one player to swoop in to save the day.

Being the most toxic player on the team might not be in most player's nature, but it is the fastest way to victory. Taking out all hearts around the stage will leave the team with no way to recover and set you up for a steady stream of revivals.

7 Capture The Director Ghost In Paranormal Productions

Ah, Morty the director ghost with a heart of gold. He's the only ghost in the entire building that doesn't want a fight with you, all he needs is a fight scene for his film, and he'll let you go on your merry way. He might be the easiest ghost to catch, but players will feel bad if they do.

Once you've made the movie with him he'll even give you the elevator button as thanks. Unfortunately, when there's an achievement to be had, gamers aren't known to be the most caring people. If you let him finish the editing beforehand you'll get to see the movie you made together, before capturing a betrayed ghost.

6 Capture A Total of 40 Rare Ghosts

Well, they're not called for no reason. Players will have to put their grinding pants on for this one, it's a long elevator ride of Scarescraper levels for achievement hopefuls. You only see the elusive rare ghosts on the fifth floor of a 10-floor run.

Catching them is a bit trickier than a regular ghoul. From speed to regeneration, players will have to combat each of the three differently. Its only seven ghosts per run, so it will require at least six runs of the Scarescraper before you have enough, making this a real grind.

5 Collect A Total Of 3,000 Gold Bars

Gold bars are the mac daddy of the currency world in Luigi's Mansion. Each bar is worth 100,000 gold, and you need to come by 3,000 of them. Players will need to be vigilant in their hunt, picking up the bars from the golden pests and fighting boo.

Scarescraper is the common theme among most of the difficult achievements. Being the only place you can properly grind, this is where the remainder of the gold bars will be earned. Unless the player takes a meticulous approach in the campaign mode, Scarescraper will be the golden jackpot.

4 Defeated Boolossus 20 Times In Scarescraper

Even though Boolosus seems intimidating, he'll only give players trouble the first couple of times you fight him. Reaching the top floor of Scarescraper loses its charm after the third time up. This isn't to say you can run through him, making the process even more time-consuming.

With the variety of attacks that will be thrown your way with every battle, timing the rhythm will be key to speeding the process. Teaming up with a skilled crew will also help unless you don't mind the scenic route.

3 Slammed A Ghost Seven Times In A Row

Technical battle achievements are often some of the most frustrating, and there's a reason we get an award for doing it. Luckily, Luigi's Mansion doesn't have complicated button combinations, and timing is the name of this game.

Every time that ghost slams into the floor, you have to tap the A button to keep the party going. The key here is rhythm, as maintaining it for seven strokes will surely cause fits for most. It's not all bad with the possibility of running through this with speed, only if they can handle the pressure and not choke in the button-mashing chain.

2 Destroyed A Hammer Using A Single Tether

It's not fair for this to be at the top of the list because some will just stumble upon it. For others, it will become a complicated mess that is neither especially impressive or satisfying. The hammer's design will throw players off at first until they have to face the speedy foe.

You can take down a regular hammer ghost throughout the hotel; they tend to be a bit dopier and predictable compared to the rare version. Shooting for the lowest hanging fruit is the easiest way to go, especially when players are trying to pull off a battle maneuver.

1 Complete 100 Total Floors In Scarescraper

Scarescraper has become a common theme throughout the list, mostly because of the ability to slog your way through the levels and collect all the goodies. Completing 100 levels will take some serious time and effort but with a tactical team, you can significantly cut the playtime.

That's 10 full runs of the game mode including the run-in with Boolossus, players will be counting down the runs soon enough. Luckily, this can be accomplished alongside a lot of the other ones on this list. Anything to reduce the time you'll have to spend in that building.
