If you're the type of player that revels in rampaging over their enemies with green monstrosities or ramping up in order to cast expensive spells, Double Masters 2022 has got you covered. Read on to find out which are some of the best green cards that this set is bringing back to Magic: The Gathering.

6 Allosaurus Shepherd

This Elf Shaman creature costs one green mana and is a 1/1. He can't be countered, and he also states that any green spells you control can't be countered either. But his most important ability costs four generic and two green mana. When this cost is paid all Elf creatures you control will have base power and toughness 5/5 while also becoming a Dinosaur in addition to their other creature types.

A creature that still sees play in various Elf decks, Allosaurus Shepherd has proven itself over the years as a pretty strong card. Its only true limitation is the fact that the buff ability only works on Elf creatures, making it useless in other decks that aren't based on Elves.

5 Eternal Witness

Eternal Witness is a Human Shaman creature that costs one generic and two green mana. A 2/1 with a strong main ability. When Eternal Witness enters the battlefield you may return target card from your graveyard to your hand.

This is a classic green card that has seen competitive play over the years in multiple formats. It first saw the light of day during the Mirrodin block, where it saw a lot of play in the Tooth and Nail deck. Nowadays, it is still a staple for any control, combo, or ramp deck that runs green.

4 Hardened Scales

An enchantment card that costs one green mana, Hardened Scales has a very strong effect. Whenever one or more +1/+1 counters would be placed on a creature you control, that many plus one more will be placed on that creature.

While plenty of green decks have tried running this card over the years in combination with various sources that add +1/+1 counters to your creatures, it currently has a spot in a modern deck that takes its name after this card. Focusing on artifact creatures such as Hangarback Walker, Walking Ballista, and Arcbound Ravager, Hardened Scales can quickly turn one of these creatures into a huge threat. And if you're faced with lots of removal, you have The Ozolith as backup to not lose all of those counters that you've worked so hard for.

3 Green Sun's Zenith

A green sorcery spell that costs X generic and one green mana, Green Sun's Zenith will have you search through your library for a green creature card with a mana cost equal to or less than X. Afterward you put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library. Lastly, you also get to shuffle Green Sun's Zenith back into your library.

An excellent card for any green deck that focuses on ramping their mana and then putting some scary threats on board. It has seen some competitive play over the years but nowadays, it is mostly relegated to the Commander format where it has found some success in various types of decks.

2 Oracle of Mul Daya

Magic: The Gathering Oracle of Mul Daya full card with background

Oracle of Mul Daya is an Elf Shaman 2/2 creature spell that costs three generic and one green mana. All of its abilities are related to lands, with the first one stating that you may play an extra land on each of your turns. You also get to play with the top card of your library revealed at all times, and you may play lands from the top of your library as if they were in your hand.

Another powerful card that has seen plenty of play over the years in various green control or ramp decks. Even though revealing the top card of your library at all times can look like a downside, the fact that you get to play lands you find there makes up for it. In recent years though this card has been mostly overshadowed by Dryad of the Ilysian Grove which is pretty similar while coming in at a cheaper cost and greater toughness.

1 Rishkar, Peema Renegade

Magic: The Gathering Rishkar, Peema Renegade full card with background

A legendary creature with the Elf Druid subtype, Rishkar is a 2/2 that costs two generic and one green mana. Whenever Rishkar enters the battlefield, you get to put two +1/+1 counters on each of up to two target creatures. Every creature that is under your control and has a counter on it can be tapped to add one green mana to your mana pool.

Rishkar can have multiple uses for a deck. It can be used in decks that focus on putting a lot of counters on their creatures, with Rishkar giving you the added benefit of having more mana at your disposal with every creature that has a counter on it. The one big downside is that Rishkar is legendary, which is understandable since having more than one on the table would double his mana effect, allowing every creature with a counter on it to give you two green mana - simply unfair.
