Since they created Until Dawn, Supermassive Games have been experimenting with interactive storytelling. Their latest project, The Dark Pictures Anthology series, is essentially the closest thing the gaming world has gotten to its own version of The Twilight Zone. The first episode, Man Of Medan, had some good moments even if it was a bit janky, which has made gamers excited for their next spooktacular adventure, Little Hope.

Up until now, we haven't had a whole lot of info on Little Hope beyond the teaser at the end of Man Of Medan which seemed to imply that some attractive young adults were about to run afoul of some witches. Bandai Namco recently released a trailer that gives us a closer look at the game and reminds us of exactly how terrifying children can be.

The trailer centers around the teenage character Andrew, who's accompanied by Angela, a woman who's either his teacher, his boss, his aunt, or his middle-aged best friend. As they explore the most stereotypically scary forest ever, they come across a young British girl dancing around a campfire in the woods. The trailer cuts out before we see anything really perturbing, but this kind of scenario can't possibly end well for at least one of these characters.

As for gameplay, Little Hope looks pretty similar to Man Of Medan. There's lots of walking around in third-person exploring the environment for clues and bits of backstory. The way that conversations play out also appears to have remained the same, with two dialogue options on two sides of a compass for the player to choose, along with the option to not say anything at the top.

It's hard to tell from this clip alone how good the acting is going to be, but the facial animation still looks a little iffy. Much like in Man Of Medan, the actors occasionally look a little wooden or just plain odd. They're close to resembling real human beings, but they're not quite out of the uncanny valley just yet. Hopefully, the most terrifying thing about the game isn't a character's facial expressions.

For the most part, we liked The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man Of Medan here at TheGamer. The idea of a cooperative horror game where friends can pass off the controller between each other is a great one. Here's hoping that Little Hope is a good source for some summertime scares.
