Nintendo has released more than five minutes of footage from upcoming title Mario Golf: Super Rush.

A new Mario game is almost upon us. One that will revive a spinoff franchise that has laid dormant for almost 20 years. Well, at least on home consoles. Mario Golf: Super Rush is coming to Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2021, and is the first mainline Mario Golf game since Toadstool Tour was released on Gamecube in 2003.

Other than the initial announcement at a Nintendo Direct earlier this year, not much has been revealed about Super Rush. Until now. Nintendo just dropped more than five minutes of in-game footage, which you can check out below. It features courses themed around iconic Mushroom Kingdom backdrops, something called Battle Golf, and the reveal of what appears to be the full character roster.

Mainstays in spinoff Mario games like Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi have all made the cut. As always, it's the deeper dive into Super Rush's roster where things get interesting. Waluigi fans can rest easy as you will be able to traverse Super Rush's luscious greens as the often forgotten character. As for the more obscure selections, Chargin' Chuck has made the cut, as has Odyseey's Pauline. Plus King Bob-omb, Bowser Jr, and Rosalina.

A number of courses were also showcased during the trailer. Not only will you be able to play virtual golf on regular old courses, but some are themed after iconic Mario backdrops. Courses based on Bowser's Castle and Dry, Dry, Desert. Basically, a Mario Kart game where you ditch the wheels in favor of a set of clubs. A better look at the game's Speed Golf mode is also shown, as well as the first look at Battle Golf which looks suitably chaotic.

The return of Mario Golf is further proof that no series is ever truly dead, just dormant. New Pokemon Snap also helped with that, and its success may lead other studios to take a second look at IP from the distant past they previously deemed unworthy of a sequel or a reboot. Mario Golf: Super Rush comes to Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2021, and is available for pre-order via the Nintendo eShop right now.
