Nintendo has finally announced the second wave courses coming as part of Mario Kart 8’s Deluxe Boost Course Pass. They include two previously datamined courses, several classic courses from popular Mario Kart games, and one all-new, never before seen course strictly for Mario Kart 8.

Coming in two new cups, the eight new courses include fan-favorite Waluigi Pinball, a wildly entertaining course from Mario Kart DS. As with all the new Mario Kart 8 courses, Waluigi Pinball has been remastered with modern graphics and features from the latest Mario Kart game. Kalimari Desert also returns with its race-ending train from Mario Kart 64, and Mushroom Gorge from Mario Kart Wii.

The most exciting new addition in Wave 2 is Sky-High Sundae, a dessert-themed course where Mario and pals all fly around giant floating popsicles, ice cream cones, ice cream sandwiches, and of course, sundaes. Sky-High Sundae looks as challenging as it does delicious.

Here’s all eight courses previewed in the trailer above:

  • Kalimari Desert from Mario 64
  • Mario Circuit 3 from Super Mario Kart
  • Waluigi Pinball from Mario Kart DS
  • New York Minute from Mario Kart Tour
  • Mushroom Gorge from Mario Kart Wii
  • Sydney Sprint from Mario Kart Tour
  • Snow Land from Mario Kart Super Circuit
  • Sky-High Sundae, all new for Mario Kart 8!

All these courses can be yours by purchasing the Deluxe Boost Course Pass for $24.99. Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass owners get access to the new DLC maps as part of their subscription. Wave 2 launches on August 4, 2022, with four more waves expected to arrive before the end of 2023.

These latest tracks were preceded by a Japanese 7-Eleven poster in much the same way as Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC characters, so keep an eye on Japanese convenience stores to see when Wave 3 will arrive. And thanks to a recent datamine, we know a few of the maps that could be part of Wave 3, such as LA Laps and Koopa Cape. You can compare the datamined list to what was recently released in our previous coverage.
