The third wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Booster Course Pass is here, adding Maple Treeway, Boo Lake, and more. The DLC also comes with an additional feature. The ability to select which items appear in races when playing in certain modes.Revealed by Nintendo, the new feature can be used when playing offline in VS races and in certain online modes. Players are presented with a grid featuring every Mario Kart item. You can either leave them all on, turn them all off, hit random and let the game decide for you, or select which items will be available in the next race yourself.RELATED: Behind The Scenes Of GTA Online’s Mario Kart Meet UpOn top of that, when playing in teams, you will also be able to allocate certain items to one team and prevent the other from being able to get them. So if you're playing against younger or more inexperienced players, you could technically tweak the selection so that they get stars and Bullet Bills in every box while you get nothing but banana skins.

There are a number of different ways players will be able to have fun with these new options outside of the above. Turning on blue shells and nothing else may be a go-to for a lot of people. Imagine getting a blue shell every time you open an item box, but also every other racer on the track getting the same. Chaos will ensue, and considering the number of interruptions and explosions nothing but blue shells would lead to, it might be worth picking a shorter track when you try that for the first time.

The replies to the tweet above imply the addition of this new feature has already been a popular one. As for the new tracks, wave three marks the halfway point of the DLC Nintendo announced for the latest Mario Kart game earlier this year. Three more waves to go, each of which will bring eight tracks from the series' past to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
