Two new trailers for Mario Kart Tour have revealed boatloads of new info about the game, including new tracks, racers, and items.

Earlier this year, Nintendo revealed the first details about Mario Kart Tour. Shortly after that, it allowed a lucky few to try a beta version of the game. That's when issues started to arise. It quickly became clear to those who had the chance to try out an early version of the game that, like other Mario titles on mobile, it'll be free to start but pay to play shortly after.

We were starting to think that the backlash toward the game had forced Nintendo to alter its slated summer release. However, it reconfirmed that Mario Kart Tour was still coming soon, and this week announced the official release date. September 25, 2019. Nintendo also dropped two new trailers to give us a taste of what we can expect.

For the most part, it looks like any other Mario Kart game, and that's not a bad thing. It features the same classic roster, familiar tracks, and items we know what to do with. However, we want to see some advancements, and it looks like we will be getting them. For starters, there appear to be a couple of additions to the roster, or at least new skins and outfits for some of the more familiar racers.

Most notably, in the trailer above you'll be treated to a glimpse of Mario wearing one of his smarter Odyssey outfits, and Shy Guy Chef. Right now, it's unclear whether those are unlockable skins for existing characters, or if these will be a couple of the rarer characters with better stats. Those currently unconfirmed characters have been the root of much of the controversy, as players will allegedly need to spend money to get their thumbs on them.

As well as the new characters/skins, Nintendo has confirmed that some of the tracks will be based on real-life cities. Tokyo, Paris, and New York, just to name a few. The tracks will be timed exclusives and relate to certain events going on in-game. Despite the criticism, we are looking forward to the release of Mario Kart Tour. Plus, who are we all kidding? We're all going to download and spend our money on it, and Nintendo knows that.
