Poor Mario can't catch a break right now. Not only is he being voiced by Chris Pratt, who sounds exactly like Chris Pratt, but he also had his best asset nerfed in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie - his ass. That's right, fans were quick to notice that the plumber's derriere is much flatter than usual. And now, even his old rival is taking shots at him while he's down.In a story that feels right out of the 1990s console wars, Sonic has made fun of Mario's bum. Weighting in on the discussion after the Mario trailer, the Sonic movie account tweeted that he "couldn't relate" to the criticisms of his rival's appearance. Better yet, he specifically alluded to Mario's "lower body design", calling out his behind for not being up to scratch. Related: There Was No Chance Chris Pratt's Mario Was Going To Be Good"Controversial lower body design? Can't relate," reads a tweet from the blue blur's Twitter account. This has led to fans on both sides debating Mario's ass, and whether it's big enough for the movie.

This is also clearly a jab at Sonic's own original movie design. While ugly Sonic is now best known for his weird-looking face, true fans will remember that it was actually the legs that came under fire first. Initial posters only showed Sonic's legs, which were weirdly defined and most worryingly, human. So while it wasn't his ass on the line, Sonic can definitely relate to the lower half of his body being a topic of debate.

However, this isn't the only aspect of the Mario movie to come under fire. The casting of Chris Pratt as Mario instead of his longtime voice actor, Charles Martinet, has been criticized since it was announced last year. Most recently, voice actor Tara Strong came out in support of Martinet, saying that he should have been able to play his character in the film. Quite a few people share this sentiment, although some feel that Martinet's voice is better served in the games' limited dialogue, rather than a full movie script.
