Mario Party Superstars features a collection of dozens of mini-games that were popular in previous Mario Party games and mixes them to create a fantastic roster of party games for you to play in each match. There are mini-games of many different types, including combat, puzzles, and team-based games.

Although every mini-game in Mario Party Superstars is great, there are a few that truly stand out for their concept and design. Here are the best mini-games you can play in Mario Party Superstars and the rules for each one.

10 Trace Race

Trace Race features a mechanic where you have to trace a line; however, this line isn't straight; instead, it twists and turns in many different ways. You have to make it to the end of the map, and whoever traces the line most accurately wins the match.

Trace Race is a fan-favorite mini-game because although it requires skill and luck, it doesn't play a major factor in your success - a beginner can win this game very easily. Trace Race is also fun because it creates pressure, which is a fun feeling during a Mario Party mini-game.

9 Monty's Revenge

You don't fight other players in Monty's Revenge; instead, you need to avoid the Monty Moles by switching between the holes in the ground before they can hit you. You can't enter the same hole as another player, and you can only pop out of a hole for so long before a Monty Mole notices you and attacks.

The longer you have stayed above ground at the end of the mini-game, the more likely you are to win. Monty's Revenge is an easy mini-game to win if you have quick reflexes. However, it's not a game that requires much skill other than practicing to get your timing exactly right.

8 Tread Carefully

Tread Carefully is one of the most combat-focused mini-games in Mario Party Superstars for the Nintendo Switch. You face three other players while inside a tank, and you can shoot cannonballs at them to deal damage. Each person has a tank, and the tanks can only take three hits before they die.

The reason that Tread Carefully is such a fun mini-game is because of the chaos that comes from four players in a small arena with tanks. You can use objects around the arena as cover; however, you need to be more strategic if enemies are both in front and behind your tank.

7 Pushy Penguins

Pushy Penguins is complete chaos. In this mini-game, you have to avoid the penguins trying to push you off of the platform. You can fall off at the end of the platform or the sides, so you need to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

There are small and large penguins running at you all the time, so you need to make quick decisions to plan your path so that you don't get stuck between multiple penguins; otherwise, they'll push you off the ledge as they run. There aren't many mini-games more chaotic than Pushy Penguins in Mario Party Superstars, which is why it's a beloved mode.

6 Crazy Cutters

Crazy Cutters is an easy game; however, it takes practice to master. You have to cut out the picture in front of you, somewhat similar to Trace Race, but it features a shape instead of a line. Trying to cut out the most accurate shape is a challenge, and it's unlike most other mini-games in Mario Party, so it's a mini-game where the fun comes from how unique the gameplay is within the collection of games.

If you enjoy unique concepts that require precision, then you will most likely love Crazy Cutters.

5 X-Ray Payday

If you enjoy collecting coins, then X-Ray Payday is one of the most fun mini-games in Mario Party Superstars. You stand at an X-Ray machine while blocks move through it. You have to watch the machine and then use your memory to uncover the blocks with coins inside them.

If you get every block correct, then you can earn many coins in a single match. However, don't open the blocks without coins because there may be a not-so-pleasant reward inside them. If you have a good memory, then X-Ray Payday is one of the best mini-games for acquiring coins.

4 Shy Guy Says

Shy Guy Says is a simple mini-game; however, it's a fan favorite because of the pressure it inflicts on you and your enemies. Shy Guy will hold up a flag, and you have to hold up the correct flag afterward; otherwise, you'll lose the game.

What makes Shy Guy Says difficult is that Shy Guy will try to trick you by pretending to hold the false flag up for a brief moment. If you are quick, you can win the match by waiting for Shy Guy to raise the correct flag and copying the movements.

3 Booksquirm

In Booksquirm, you have to avoid the falling pages by positioning yourself in a spot that has a hole so that the page won't crush you when it falls. Since there are limited holes in the book, other players may push you out of the hole if you aren't careful.

Booksquirm is a lot of fun, especially with friends, and you'll have a blast trying to avoid the pages from falling onto your character. Practice helps you improve in Booksquirm since you need to know exactly where to stand to avoid the pages.

2 Bumper Balls

Bumper Balls is pure fun. You have to use your ball to push your enemies off the platform while also avoiding falling off yourself. Bumper Balls is great because the concept of bouncing around an area and bumping into your friends is stressful and thrilling, and works well in a video game.

The best strategy for Bumper Balls is to stay near the center of the platform at all times; otherwise, someone may push you off the ledge by bumping into you with their ball. Bumper Balls is one of the best mini-games in Mario Party history, and it's no surprise considering the concept.

1 Snowball Summit

A screenshot showing gameplay in Mario Party Superstars

Snowball Summit is a skill-based mini-game, although you can also win it if you are new to Mario Party Superstars because it isn't too hard to get used to the gameplay. In Snowball Summit, you have to roll snowballs up to create as large a snowball as possible. Then you can roll the snowball towards an enemy, which will knock them back and off the ledge if the snowball is strong enough.

It's a great idea to stay near the center and block enemy attacks until it's down to just you and one other competitor. At this point, you should throw a snowball at the enemy and then continue to hit them with snowballs once they fall down for the first time so that they can't create snowballs themselves.
