Markiplier's is probably one of YouTube's most recognisable creators, having amassed well over 34 million subscribers, making him one of the most influential people on the platform. Like most YouTubers of Markiplier's ilk, he made his name playing and reacting to horror games, and still does to this day. However, it seems like the creator wants to try his hand in the film business, as it's now been revealed he will be directing and starring in a movie adaptation of indie horror hit Iron Lung.

First reported by Deadline (thanks Polygon), it's claimed that the movie has already entered production and is being filmed in Austin, Texas. The title will also co-star The Plot Against America actress Caroline Rose Kaplan and will be self-financed by Markplier, who has also written his own script for the movie. Further details about Iron Lung are still unknown, but Markiplier also recently uploaded a short teaser trailer to his official YouTube channel.

You can watch the trailer embedded below, but it is very light on the details. It starts out with a shot of the submarine from in the game before it slowly rotates and transitions to a live action version of the same area, all the while a voice can be heard over the radio. It definitely channels the same creepy vibe that the game goes for, but we'll have to wait for any details about a plot. As for when it releases, the description below the trailer simply states that it will be "Coming Soon", so it could be ready for later this year.

If this is the first you're hearing about Iron Lung, the game released back in 2022 and was quite popular amongst the YouTube crowd. The game takes place inside a submarine called the Iron Lung, as you explore the depths of an ocean in search of precious resources. The window is encased in metal and the hatch welded shut due to pressure, so you're forced to navigate sight unseen and take photos of your surrounding environment. With it being a horror game, these photos get increasingly more bizarre, and the game itself was praised for its bleak and oppresive atmosphere.

Quite how this will transfer to a movie remains to be seen, but it seems like Markiplier is keeping himself busy with video game adaptations these days. While not confirmed just yet, it's expected that the creator is also set to appear in the Five Nights At Freddies movie which is currently in production. In a recent interview, Markiplier stated that he "can't say anything" about the project at the moment, which is pretty much the next best thing to an actual confirmation.
