A new report has claimed that Marvel had allegedly "forgotten" to tell VFX artists working on Avengers: Endgame that it had bumped up the release date, leaving an already exhausted team with one less month to finish required shots.This report is from Gizmodo, which details several accounts of irritated VFX artists that have previously worked for Marvel. One VFX artist called David recounts working on titles such as Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. While David explains that working on Guardians of the Galaxy was one of his favorite projects, he also details the time when Marvel had allegedly "forgotten" to tell the team that it bumped up the release for Endgame, having the team find out via a press release."The worst was when Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were coming out," says David. "They actually bumped up that release by a month but they hadn’t told us. I remember being on the floor with my team and one of my artists comes to me and says, ‘Hey, you see this?’ and he shows me the article saying Marvel bumped the release date up a month... So we found out from a press release that we had one less month to work on all these shots.”
David isn't the only one with horror stories about Marvel, as VFX artists have been steadily calling out the company over the past few months. For example, just last month another VFX artist claimed in a different report that they were tired of being "pixel-f**ked" by Marvel, claiming that the company is infamous for asking to change a movie's VFX just months before release and having too much "bullying power" in the industry for artists to push back.
