To say there are ridiculous things about any member of the Guardians of the Galaxy is an understatement. The group is known to be far from the most serious bunch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it is due to their eccentric nature that their movies have been such a hit. In fact, the Guardians of the Galaxy movies made a ton at the box office. The two films combined have made over $1.5 billion and their appearance in Avengers: Infinity War helped that movie make over $2 billion alone.

Every member of a wacky group needs at least one serious personality or the group would feel like it's overstaying its welcome. This is where Gamora enters, as she is the member of the Guardians who doesn’t suffer fools much. Gamora is still a well-liked member of the group as she offers a sane alternative to the rest of the people you’ll find there. She’s also one of the strongest members as she is the daughter of the Titan Thanos; you know, that guy who took out all the heroes in Avengers: Infinity War.

With every film, Gamora’s role has increased in substance and she was outright the third most important character in Avengers: Infinity War after Thanos and Iron Man. This level of importance has brought Gamora a level of scrutiny, and we’re also diving in to dissect the aspects of Gamora that people probably don’t know about.

24 Surviving Being Exposed To Space

via coub.com

In Guardians of the Galaxy, we saw Gamora be exposed to space midway through the movie and Star-Lord went out to retrieve her. Star-Lord himself survived long enough in space, but as we now know he was the son of Ego and that might have been what saved him.

Gamora had no such powers and was exposed for a long while before Star-Lord went out and placed an oxygen mask on her face. She was certainly not immune to space as she was said to be on the verge of perishing.

23 Star-Lord Surviving Her Attacks

via inverse.com

Now we have the question of how Star-Lord managed to survive a full-on attack by Gamora. Gamora has powers that are more than the average human, as was evidenced when she fought super alien beings without the need for armor or weaponry; however, she landed straight hits on Star-Lord during the scene where they first met each other on Xandar.

Not only did Star-Lord survive, he had no wounds at all.

How could he have walked away without any injuries if Gamora’s strength is supposed to be superhuman?

22 Getting Beaten By A Raccoon And Tree

via youtube,com

In the same scene that Star-Lord and Gamora were seen sparring, we saw Gamora take on Groot and Rocket Raccoon as well. Unlike Star-Lord, Gamora got hit with bigger attacks by the duo and ended up being incapacitated before the Nova Corps dropped by and took all of them to the Kiln prison.

If Gamora was such a deadly life-taker, then how is it that she got blindsided so easily by a tree and a raccoon? Granted, Rocket was a very smart raccoon, but Groot was nothing more than Rocket’s muscle.

21 She Was Supposed To Be The Last Of Her Kind

via youtube.com

In Guardians of the Galaxy, after Gamora was placed into custody on Xandar, she was taken for a briefing before being sent to the Kiln prison. In this scene, we saw a profile of her listed on-screen that showed she was the last of the Zen-Whoberi and that Thanos had committed genocide against the entire species.

In Avengers: Infinity War, however, there was no mention of all of her species being taken out and the flashback with Thanos even showed he specifically took out only half of the population.

20 Her Fluctuating Strength

via dailydot.com

Like we mentioned earlier, Gamora’ strength seems to have a mind of its own as she could throw attacks that destroyed full ships, but on other occasions, she couldn’t even properly hurt a normal human like Star-Lord.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Gamora teetered on the edge of Star-Lord’s ship while holding the entire body of Drax by a singular line; all this while the ship was going down for a crash landing. Later on, she had difficulties fighting minor bad guys.

19 Going To Thanos When He Was Looking For Her

via youtube.com

In what was a completely dumb move, Gamora chose to go to Knowhere to confront Thanos even though the latter was out there looking for her. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thor told the Guardians that Thanos was hunting for the stones and was at the location of the Reality stone.

Gamora knew that if Thanos caught her he would take her to interrogate her of the Soul Stone’s location. If all this was obvious, why didn’t she just go with Thor to Nidavellir and be completely safe?

18 Not Saying She Loved Star-Lord

via inverse.com

In Guardians of the Galaxy, there was an obvious attraction between Star-Lord and Gamora, but nothing was built upon this and the film ended with them not having made any moves on each other. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, however, Gamora was shown to be completely in love with Star-lord and was fully aware the latter loved her too.

There was absolutely nothing stopping her from being in a relationship with Star-Lord as she had never made any claim she would not be pursuing romantic relationships. Then why was she reluctant to tell him she loved him?

17 Why Thanos Chose Her At All

via youtube.com

We saw that Thanos loved Gamora more than any other children of his. She was the only one whose demise made him cry and it was she he saw right after he brought an end to half of the universe. However, as seen in the flashback in Avengers: Infinity War, Gamora impressed Thanos as a child on her home planet so much that he decided to adopt her.

But the fact remains she didn’t do anything at all.

All she did was ask where her mother was, and for some reason, Thanos took a liking to her.

16 She Still Loves Thanos As Her Father

via youtube.com

Gamora went to Knowhere with the sole intention of bringing an end to Thanos’ life. She even was successful in her own way when she stabbed the figment of Thanos the latter brought from the Reality Stone. It was in this scene that we saw she didn’t despise him as she claimed.

After she thought she had taken him out, Gamora was seen visibly distraught at Thanos’ supposed end. This was because despite all Thanos had done to her, he was still the only father figure she had grown up with, which meant she was sad at taking out her own father.

15 Is Thanos Her Full Father?

via youtube.com

Now is where things get confusing. We know that Thanos basically abducted Gamora from her home planet as seen in the flashback. But there’s a confusion in that on Vormir when Red Skull announces the parentage of both Thanos and Gamora.

Despite not knowing who Thanos is, Red Skull still knew the name of Thanos’ father. For Gamora, Red Skull simply announced the name of Thanos as her father. But shouldn’t he have announced the name of Gamora’s biological father instead?

14 How Did She Find Vormir?

via youtube.com

It was made abundantly clear in Avengers: Infinity War that absolutely no one in all of the universe had any clue where the Soul stone was hidden. A 1500-year-old Asgardian king like Thor had no idea where the location was but somehow Gamora came to know of its location.

We were never told how or where she acquired the coordinates of Vormir, but it was so well-known to her that all she needed was to get on a ship and tell Thanos where it was. How could she know the directions to an entire planet in her head?

13 She’s Not The Strongest Black Order Member

via digitspy.com

It’s a shame we never got to see Nebula and Gamora interact with the rest of their siblings in Avengers: Infinity War as it would’ve made for a very memorable scene. As it happened, the most we saw Gamora with her brother Ebony Maw was on her home planet when Thanos culled half of the population.

Although Gamora was called the greatest life-taker in the galaxy, that’s not really true because we saw Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian in Avengers: Infinity War and it was laughable how much more powerful they are compared to Gamora.

12 Why Isn’t She The Leader?

via digitspy.com

Of all the Guardians we’ve seen on-screen, one thing is for certain that they are all a bunch of wackos. Star-Lord is meant to be the leader of this ragtag bunch of people, but he’s never shown even the slightest bit of leadership quality.

Not only that, but no one even acknowledges him as the leader.

Gamora should be the real leader because she was already a general for Thanos and is actually level-headed and can keep a sense of authority.

11 She Still Exists Inside The Soul Stone

via youtube.com

At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, we saw a child Gamora appear to Thanos in a mysterious world after he’d completed the snap to destroy half of everything that ever lived. Thanos was visibly shaken to see the young version of his daughter and it was implied she wasn’t just a figment of his imagination.

It was later confirmed that this Gamora actually was the same Gamora that had passed away on Vormir. The world Thanos was in was, in fact, the soul stone. Gamora exists in the soul stone now.

10 The Makeup Process

via instagram.com

What we see of Gamora on-screen looks 100 percent authentic and you’d be forgiven to think she’s an actual green-skinned alien (actually, you won’t be forgiven because those kinds of things don’t actually exist).

The process to make Gamora come to life, though, is anything but easy. Kudos to the production department for devising a way to make Gamora appear like a real alien, but the actress who portrays her has to be given credit for sitting down for such a gross process. As you can see, it’s a very violating procedure.

9 Her Love For Nebula

via youtube.com

In Guardians of the Galaxy, Nebula was a thoroughly unsympathetic figure who was shown as a villain in the movie. To this end, Gamora was not shown having any real love for her and didn’t care much when Drax blasted Nebula with a cannon.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, however, Gamora was clearly very attached with the idea of having a sister and did not try to fight Nebula at all. By Avengers: Infinity War, Gamora was shown to love Nebula unconditionally.

8 The Age Differences

via youtube.com

The time passage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t really make sense. Thor says it has been two years since Avengers: Age of Ultron in Thor: Ragnarok, despite Asgard not having the same way of time passing as Earth.

Uniquely, though, Gamora is supposed to be 27-28 according to her home planet while Nebula is 30-years-old according to hers. However, Gamora is the elder sister to Nebula if one takes Earth years and not the alien planets’ years. If Gamora was on Nebula’s planet, she would be older than 30.

7 She Could’ve Saved Nebula

via youtube.com

We don’t mean saving Nebula as in how we saw her in Avengers: Infinity War, we mean how Nebula had become prior to that. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it was told by Nebula that she always lost to Gamora when they were young and due to this Thanos would replace almost all of Nebula’s parts in order to make her compete with Gamora.

Had Gamora conceded on occasion, then Nebula would not have known the treatment she saw from Thanos.

6 Her Willingness To Sacrifice Herself

via youtube.com

Despite all the Guardians shown to be quite selfish in their own films, in Avengers: Infinity War, Gamora was shown to be very selfless. After finding out the location of Vormir, she decided she didn’t want anyone else to know of the location and made Star-Lord promise he would take her out if the time came.

After she was on Vormir with Thanos, Gamora was willing to take herself out with a blade so that Thanos would not sacrifice her. In the end, she was very selfless.

5 She’s Not Stronger Than Drax

via youtube.com

All the Guardians play a different role when it comes to teamwork. Gamora is said to be a life-taker and you would think she would play the role of the muscle but that’s not the case. As was shown in Guardians of the Galaxy, Drax pinned Gamora to a wall and the latter was helpless to fight his strength.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Drax’s durability was more on display and he was the one taking the damage at the beginning of the movie.
