Avengers: Infinity War is the most anticipated superhero film, and film in general, of the year. Understandably so, since it will have every Marvel hero to date in the film and is supposed to have intense action sequences that are unrivaled.

The film's synopsis all has to do with Thanos, who is the main villain of this movie as well as the following Avengers film. In Infinity War, Thanos has "emerged from the cosmic shadows" and is ready to take what he believes is rightfully his: the Infinity Stones. With all six Infinity Stones, he will be able to use them to "inflict his twisted will on reality". The Avengers have seemingly been training for this ultimate fight for the planet for years, now, and the time has come for them to rise up and become the best version of their team as they can be.

With the popularity and anticipation of the next Avengers film, there has also been plenty of memes to arise from both promotional photos and trailers for the movie. At the center of most of these memes is none other than Thanos himself. Fans everywhere have found so many things to poke fun at in regards to him.

From his new look to the Avengers outlook on their upcoming battle against him to Thanos becoming a new version of an old meme, there's always something to make fun of when it comes to this evil villain.

So let's get into the 25 Hilarious Thanos Memes Only Marvel Fans Will Understand.

25 Breaking Thanos

via Pinterest

In Avengers: Infinity War, the evil Thanos plans to "inflict his twisted will on all of reality" which could mean the end of the world - and existence itself - as we know it.

To do this, he must collect all six Infinity Stones because they are artifacts with "unimaginable power" and ultimately will get him exactly what he wants.

Now, anyone who has seen Breaking Bad knows all about Hank and his collection of rocks, er, I mean 'minerals.' So this meme is an utterly perfect mashup of the new Avengers film and the iconic Breaking Bad series. Hank was always very defensive when anyone would call his minerals another name, so Thanos wanting the 'stones' and Hank correcting him in this meme, is beyond hilarious.

Thank you to whoever is the genius behind this.

24 Friends Turn Into Enemies

via Imgur

It’s no secret that Thanos has been planning a war against the Avengers, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy, for quite some time. But even though we’ve known about it, not all of the Avengers have.

Because of this, they’ve had their own feuds within their organization that had spawned a civil war amongst them. When Captain America and Iron Man faced off in Captain America: Civil War, the other Avengers had to choose a side.

This caused a lot of turmoil for everyone involved, especially Cap and Tony, but according to this meme, Thanos was beyond amused by the turn of events.

Here he is, planning all of their demises, while they, in turn, are trying to end each other.

The irony is clear here…especially to Thanos.

23 The Waiting Game

via Memedroid

Thanos is known for being an extremely powerful, evil, extraterrestrial warlord, "who rules over a deceased dimension." He's also known for his massive army that he commands by the name of the Chitauri. What he is not known for, however, is his patience.

Yet somehow, he has managed to wait for years and several Marvel films worth before finally making his grand entrance and executing his evil plan in Avenger's: Infinity War.

This meme illustrates his growing frustration as each MCU film passes him by without him being able to put his nefarious schemes into action. It gets even more hilarious when it's made apparent that he should've been able to start putting his plans into motion at least in the "space one."

Don't worry, Thanos. Your time is coming.

22 Deadpool’s Antics

via Quirkybyte

We can all agree that Thanos is not the type of villain you ever want to cross. He is arguably one of the evilest villains in Marvel history - if not the evilest one, period. But there is one hero who doesn't play by the same rules as the Avengers.

He's a little more daring, and a lot more hilarious. And that hero is none other than Deadpool.

Deadpool is definitely known for his insane antics, foul mouth, and lack of a filter. So I have to agree that probably the only person in the universe to pull a trick with a whoopee cushion on Thanos would be Deadpool (especially with their previous feud over the woman they both loved, Death).

I love this image of Thanos about to sit on his infamous throne with Deadpool just waiting in the wings to put a whoopee cushion underneath him. Classic Wade Wilson, that's for sure.

21 Evil Baker

via CBR

In a mid-credits scene during Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Thanos utters now one of his most famous lines - "Fine, I'll do it myself!" He exclaims this after both Loki and Ronan both fail at retrieving their respective Infinity Stone that Thanos had assigned them to get.

He then vows to get all of the Infinity Stones and then destroy both the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy at that moment.

Since then, many memes have been made using the now-famous line of his. But I have to say, this one may be my favorite. Here we have someone who found an Infinity Gauntlet oven mitt (seriously, where can I buy one?) and they then paired it with his classic quote, but changing it to, "Fine, I'll bake it myself!"

You have to applaud the sheer cleverness of it if nothing else.

20 Grown-Up Thanos

via Twitter

There's nothing like taking an already wildly successful internet meme and turning it into an even more hysterical one. And that is exactly what the creator of this meme accomplished.

They claim that the baby featured in the 2007 'Success Kid' meme has now grown-up to be...Thanos.

Yep, he's already grown-up and become an evil, alien warlord ready to destroy the universe.

Kidding, but it is definitely a hilarious take on a very popular meme. And it's even more hilarious when you think of all the articles that came out not long ago saying, "Look at what the baby from the Success Kid meme looks like now!"

Let's just pretend he looks exactly like Thanos now because it's honestly much more fun to think of him that way.

19 Savage Thanos

via Funnyjunk

What another comical new take on an already funny and popular meme - the Savage Patrick Star meme. This one has taken on a life of its own since it started circulating only a couple of months ago, back in February.

Now it has got the Avengers: Infinity War treatment with the "evil/savage" Patrick turning into Thanos himself. It shows the Patrick/Thanos hybrid in the midst of a maniacal chuckle as he plans to be the first Marvel villain to actually succeed in his evil scheme and destroy the Avengers, and the world as we know it, for good.

Regardless of the actual success of Thanos and his wicked plans, we can at least admit that this meme is not only hilarious but decidedly…savage.

18 Worst Parent Of The Century Award

via Best Of Comic Books

Gamora and Nebula are the two adopted sisters of Thanos, who was both their former master. Gamora quickly became Thanos' favorite because of her intense combat skills. This helped to grow the wedge between the two sisters over the years, while their relationship had already been rocky thanks to an order Thanos gave Gamora, to leave Nebula behind during their search for The Orb.

Since Nebula was in a dire situation thanks to that order, Gamora became increasingly bitter towards Thanos. Because of the harm Nebula had to go through over the years, as well as Gamora being used by him constantly, the two would obviously look at him as the worst 'Dad' on the planet, nay, in the universe.

And that is how this meme was born. Sure, we may see Thanos as just a regular evil villain.

But the two sisters probably see him as the evilest tormenter they've ever had to endure.

17 Pawn Stars: Thanos Edition

via Tumblr (Nerd King)

Thanos' look has changed quite a bit over the years, at least since we first saw him appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.  And with that change came a lot of comparisons to other famous faces.

Amongst the famous faces is none other than Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars. It seems he and Thanos have quite a bit in common in their facial structures and to some, the resemblance is downright uncanny.

What makes this meme even more humorous, other than the photoshopped Thanos face on top of Rick's, is the fact they're having 'Thanos' offer a measly $50 for the Infinity Stones, which in reality would be worth far, far more.

But that is pretty typical of Rick Harrison to seriously bargain with people to buy something from them for far less than what it is worth.

16 Sick Burn

via Screen Rant

We've all been in a situation where someone says something particularly harsh and then we try to come up with a hilarious and equally as harsh comeback...only to have something seriously lame come out of our mouths.

So to see the heroic Captain America being depicted in that exact situation with Thanos is seriously priceless.

In one of the most talked about scenes from the Infinity War trailer, we see Cap fighting off Thanos in a serious and epic moment. But in this meme creator's version, we see the same scene, but with Thanos apparently saying something offensive to Cap, with Cap trying to quickly think on his feet with a comeback.

Instead of something witty and clever being said back to him, he comes up with the ever eloquent, "No, you!"

Good one, Cap.

15 When Evil Meets Evil

via Screen Rant

While Thanos is probably the biggest bad to ever grace the Avengers with his presence, Negan is definitely the biggest bad to ever be on The Walking Dead and attack the survivors.

So it's no wonder that when Thanos remarks about having fun while 'balancing the universe,' Negan would whole-heartedly agree with his corruptness. He even goes so far as to say that he would like to borrow the Infinity Gauntlet, which we know could cause serious damage when in the wrong hands.

He then tries to bargain by saying he'll let him hold his infamous bat, Lucille. The deadly weapon would also be seriously detrimental if in the wrong hands, but somehow I think the Avengers could easily handle that compared to the Infinity Gauntlet.

Still, this would be an interesting villainous team-up if I ever saw one.

14 Nothing To See Here

via Screen Rant

The Mind Stone is one of the six Infinity Stones that Thanos needs to complete his Infinity Gauntlet. It also is the stone that gave The Vision life.

So it's understandable that The Vision would want to keep the fact he is in possession of the Mind Stone under wraps - literally.

See, in this meme, The Vision is wearing a beanie over his forehead, where the Mind Stone is completely visible, to try to fool Thanos into thinking he doesn't have it.

Clearly, that would not actually work if they did it in the film, but at least it made for a super hysterical meme. Still, it's hard not worry about the future for The Vision knowing that Thanos will be after the Mind Stone and all of its capabilities.

13 Eerie Resemblance

via Quirkybyte

After Joss Whedon directed both Avengers and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, it was expected amongst Marvel fans everywhere that he would direct Infinity War. But it was announced a while ago that it would now be Anthony and Joe Russo at the helm for the third Avengers film.

But it is seriously odd to see that Thanos looks mysteriously a lot like Joss Whedon, especially since Whedon will no longer be directing Avengers films.

He claims that directing ensemble films has always been something he's done, but when they get as ginormous as Infinity War is, he doesn't feel he can do it justice.

That may be so, but that still doesn't explain why Thanos looks so much like Joss Whedon in the new movie, as illustrated in this meme. The addition of a red beard on Thanos is a nice touch, I must say.

12 The Many Faces Of Thanos

via Quirkybyte

We've previously discussed all of the many famous faces Thanos seems to resemble in the new Avengers movie, but this meme encapsulates a good chunk of them in one photo.

They have photoshopped everything from 'CGI Cavill Mustache Thanos' to 'Cee Lo Green Thanos' and everything else in between. While the CGI Cavill Mustache Thanos is a definite front-runner for the best version of Thanos due to the pure hilarity of it, I'm also partial to Guy Fieri Thanos.

Joking aside, these several different versions of Thanos are tremendously ingenious and I'd personally like to see even more versions of Thanos thanks to this meme creator.

11 Distracted Thanos

via Quirkybyte

The 'Distracted Boyfriend' meme is a favorite of mine and a favorite of many others because of the several connotations it has created since it first came on the internet. And here is an additional example of another version of this winning meme.

Thanos is the 'distracted boyfriend' in this scenario, with "Sitting on a space throne doing nothing for 3 years" being the attractive girl he's checking out. Then we have his quote, "Fine, I'll do it myself..." as the disapproving girlfriend to his right.

This clearly indicates Thanos would rather sit around on his throne in space for a few years while he has others do his dirty work for him instead of actually taking matters into his own hands and accomplishing his end goal: taking over the universe.

10 Impeccable Concept Art

via Cheezburger

It was obvious when images and trailers were coming out including Thanos in the new Avengers: Infinity War movie that not all fans appreciated his new look. That much is clear judging by the many different memes created making fun of said look.

But this image of a thumb with Thanos' face drawn on it as 'concept art' for the new movie may just take the cake.

Someone clearly just used a purpleish-pinkish ink to put all over the pad of their thumb and then drew a ridiculous version of Thanos' face to depict him in the new film and the results are honestly delightful.

Also, let's give kudos to the 'artist' behind this thumb drawing of Thanos for making this meme just as funny as it is idiotic. That's a difficult task.

9 Refund, Please

via Cheezburger

I'm pretty positive that at some point in everyone's lives, we've all experienced ordering something online only to be seriously disappointed upon receiving it. And that is exactly what is being shown in this witty meme about the old Thanos vs. new Thanos.

Old Thanos has a purplish-hue to his skin tone and also is seen wearing a helmet. Yet new Thanos looks to be much paler than his old version and is seen helmet-less. So what gives? That's a lot of changes in a short amount of time for this evil warlord.

In all seriousness, it is hard to understand why there were so many changes made to his classic look, but at least it gave us all of these hilarious memes to have forever.

8 Thanos Bae

via Cheezburger

Salt Bae memes started blowing up our news feeds back in January 2017 and for good reason. The original video featuring the Turkish chef and restaurateur Nusret Gökçe "flamboyantly" salting a steak while preparing it became viral overnight, quite literally. He became an internet sensation and in turn, his meme had many variations made of it.

So the 'Salt Bae' meme was bound to reach the Marvel Universe.

And according to this fanart of Thanos as his own version of 'Salt Bae', it definitely has made its presence known in the MCU.

Instead of Thanos salting a steak, we see him using his Infinity Stones as the 'salt' and salting them over his Infinity Gauntlet.  This is not only super clever and hilarious but also really unique and original of the artist.

7 Drax And Mantis Forever

via Comic Vine - Gamespot

Drax has always been a fan-favorite amongst all of the Guardians of the Galaxy fans and it's easy to see why. He has an abundance of comical one-liners and always manages to be a scene stealer. But Mantis, who was introduced in the second Guardians film, has also become a fan-favorite in her own right.

She has empathic abilities, and while she is able to control others' emotions, she is also able to strongly feel the emotions of others. She and Drax became fast friends and many are pulling for them to be a couple of sorts.

So this meme showing Mantis saying she will protect Drax from Thanos is pretty believable.  Especially since Drax replies with a witty "And I will cherish those 3 seconds" when talking about Thanos having to go through Mantis to get to him.  It's classic Drax, as well as typical Mantis.

6 Hellboy Or Thanos?

via Quickmeme

Any informed Marvel fan knows the clear difference between Thanos, the ultimate evil villain from the Marvel Universe and Hellboy, the humanoid half-demon who is a paranormal investigator in the Dark Horse Comics universe.

Hellboy for one, is a superhero, while Thanos is a villain.

Aside from that, they have many other differences, but novice Marvel fans may not be able to see that as clearly as the rest of us.

In this meme, we see the clarification that Thanos has not been Hellboy since his conception in 1973.  He has carried on not being Hellboy for several decades and is in fact, a completely different character.

I guess I can see the resemblance when looking at the movie-version of Thanos and Hellboy, but that definitely doesn't make them one in the same.
