2018 was a great year for Marvel. Black Panther started us off with a tremendous hit, giving a culture some much-needed representation on the big screen. It was beautiful. I literally cried at the end. Not that the movie itself was sad, which it was at parts, but just the fact it was made was touching. Then we got into Avengers: Infinity War, which I wasn't that big on. I liked it, but it was more of a spectacle than a movie in my opinion. It was like wow they really did it. All these characters from all these movies finally came together. For me, it kind of made it a bit congested. Oh yeah, and the whole bummer ending left a sour taste in my mouth even though I know the finger snap is going to get reversed somehow. There's no way it can't, otherwise I think Marvel Studios may lose a bunch of fans.

Anyway, let's move onto this article's main subject. There were six films in phase one, which began with Iron Man and concluded with The Avengers. Phase two also had six films, which began with Iron Man 3 and concluded with Ant-Man. In phase three things got a little bigger and had almost double the normal amount i.e. ten. The first was Civil War and the last is supposed to be Avengers: Endgame. The new “season” of sorts will begin with Spider-Man Far From Home. What else is in store? Let’s figure that out together.

20 Confirmed: Spider-Man Far From Home

We Got This Covered

As I said in the intro, Spider-Man: Far From Home will be the first MCU phase four film. I'm beyond excited about it even though I virtually know nothing. Will this even be about the Peter Parker we know? What if it's the same actor, but it takes place in an alternate dimension? I mean it really all depends on how the ending of Avengers: Endgame shakes out. It could go a lot of ways and for Spider-Man and the other dusters, but I have no idea.

19 Unconfirmed: Vision & Scarlet Witch

Gizmodo

So there are no rumors about this, but this team up makes a lot of sense. I mean they're already in love. You could see the two of them disappear somewhere after the whole Thanos thing. Then, as it always does, danger comes for them. I would certainly like this more than a solo film with either of them. It's not that I don't like them, but on their own, eh, I just don't know. Although Scarlet Witch going solo to find mutants could be cool.

18 Confirmed: Doctor Strange 2

GeekTyrant

Doctor Strange 2: Me, You, and Time Too. Catchy, yes? Well, whatever they call it I'm excited about some more Inception-level kung-fu magic.

The doctor is in.

While the story of the first film didn't wow me as it followed the crumb trail of most origin stories, I did like all of that crazy, mind-bending action. I don't know the finer details, but I can guess one thing. He's going to face off against his former friend, Karl Mordo, that left at the end of the first movie.

17 Unconfirmed: Ant-Man 3

Vox

This is both a want and based on rumors. Based on where they left off with the last one, there's definitely room for some more Ant-Man action. I'm not talking about Scott being stuck either because that's clearly solved in Avengers: Endgame. For me, I think these movies are highly underrated in the grand scheme of the MCU. Of course, that may be just my love of Paul Rudd obscuring my vision. Point is I'm totally down for one last mini-sized hurrah.

16 Confirmed: Black Panther 2

Essence

After the success of the first film, how could there not be a sequel? It was not only the best Marvel movie of 2018, but it was a cultural touchstone. It proved there was an audience for this. Anyway, here's my idea of where this could go. So what if not everyone returns in Avengers: Endgame? Like what if King T'challa is lost and in the meantime, Shuri dawns the Black Panther garb? Her goal is to find him so yes he'll be in it, but that won’t be revealed until the end.

15 Unconfirmed: Nova

Nerdist

A Nova movie has been rumored ever since the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. Whenever asked, James Gunn remained tight-lipped and/or cagey. Let's look at the facts. The Nova Corps are basically space cops and were introduced in that original movie.

There can only be one.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos makes an offhanded comment about destroying that planet. The hero we know as Nova could be like the sole survivor. I have to be at least 25% right about that. Let's start the bets!

14 Confirmed: Black Widow

Nerdist

Black Widow has kind of been shamefully ignored in the MCU movies. She's great and all, but because she started so long ago, Iron Man 2, it's crazy she hasn't received her own film yet. The best possibility, in my mind, would be a prequel. I can't see her really doing any real world, end-of-the-galaxy heroics. So a spy thriller set during the height of S.H.I.E.L.D. could be great. She can definitely give Bond a run for his money.

13 Unconfirmed: The New Captain

Inverse

Chris Evans has gone out there hinting that his run with the Cap will end with Avengers: Endgame. Of course, that could mean a lot of things since we may be dealing with parallel dimensions and the Skrulls potentially. Let's say the Chris Evans' Cap does fall for good. The best possible replacement would be Bucky. He took over the mantle in the comics after his demise at one point, so this seems like a safe bet. Bucky deserves redemption.

12 Confirmed: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

CNet

Okay, so this movie was on track and then those old tweets from James Gunn appeared. Disney fired him, something I don't agree with, but whatever. Point is, they've said the movie is still on, but currently on hiatus. I'm sure they're looking for directors on the weird/funny spectrum akin to Gunn.

Here's my pitch: Step Brothers in space.

Actually, as of a few weeks ago, it sounded like Adam McKay may take over, which I'd be totally down for. Maybe we can finally see Will Ferrell in the MCU too.

11 Unconfirmed: Secret Invasion

Geeks Media

Okay, so the Skrulls are confirmed for Captain Marvel, which may be a one-off thing, but I assume it's going to be the start of something big. It could resurface in Avengers: Endgame, or Captain Marvel 2, or here's another thought. What if the next Avengers level event movie goes down, it's not titled specifically about them? What if they do the Secret Wars, or Secret Invasion arc? This may mean we could see old allies come back from the grave. The possibilities are endless.

10 Unconfirmed: Captain Marvel 2

GeekTyrant

Okay so let's pretend that Secret Invasion is not part of a Captain Marvel sequel. Let's also pretend it will even happen. What could it be about? I have absolutely no idea, but here's the thing. The MCU loves sequels so if this does well I guarantee a sequel will get made. Will it also be a prequel? On that note, I can make a pretty fair bet that no, it will be a present-day adventure. It really wouldn't make sense to have two prequel sequels.

9 Unconfirmed: Nick Fury

Gizmodo

Disney and Marvel's de-aging technology is incredible. It was a bit jarring upon revisiting Tron Evolution, but all of the Marvel stuff still looks great. All of the scenes they've shown from Captain Marvel with Samuel L. Jackson look spot on. He actually looks that young. That said, it's high time he gets his own adventure.

The Fast and the Fury sounds like a good name.

How did he get into S.H.I.E.L.D.? How did he lose his eye? These are things we don't need to know, but I do want to see Jackson get his payday.

8 Unconfirmed: War Machine & Falcon

Comic Vine

Two other background characters that could be interesting to take a look into is War Machine and Falcon. That said, I don't think they could hold a movie by themselves. That's why I'm calling for a co-op film. They are part of the New Avengers after all and were both in the military. They can also both fly, so maybe they could do something with an aerial villain, or area. Make it like Top Gun, but for dudes in robot suits.

7 Unconfirmed: Planet Hulk

Wikia

I know that parts of the Planet Hulk storyline were included in Thor: Ragnarok, so I'm not really sold on the name. What I do want is a new Hulk movie. It's so weird to me that he only got one solo movie and that was the Edward Norton version. If they introduce She-Hulk, who is a lawyer, that may give Marvel the opportunity to put Daredevil into the MCU, especially since the Netflix show is done. You know, because he is also a lawyer.

6 Unconfirmed: Hawkeye

Polygon

Hawkeye was completely absent in Avengers: Infinity War. Well, they do mention he and Scott Lang are out of the game and are in hiding, but that doesn't really count. Anyway, he is going to be in Avengers: Endgame based on that first teaser and boy does he look ticked.

So is Hawkeye a ronin now?

Should the solo movie detail what happened before Infinity War? That might be good, but a dual team-up would be great too with Black Widow. Yes, another prequel.

5 Unconfirmed: The Ravagers

Fandom

Since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may be on hold I have another proposition while they figure that out. Presumably, The Ravagers were going to play a big part in the sequel. That, and Adam Warlock. While that still may be the case, I would be interested in seeing a prequel of Stallone’s team in the height of their power. They were only in the second film for like five minutes, but that was enough to get me intrigued.

4 Unconfirmed: New Mutants

CBR

This is another film I don't exactly know what to call, similar to Planet Hulk. All I want though is an MCU introduction of the X-Men. The best way possible, I feel, is through Scarlet Witch as she is, or I guess was, a mutant. They could retcon it a little and reveal she actually inherited her power through genes and not genetic experiments. Since she is psychic as well, it would make sense for her to perhaps be drawn to find new heroes? This all depends on the Fox deal going through though.

3 Unconfirmed: Fantastic Four

Fandom

If the Fox deal does pass then that also means we get to have the Fantastic Four in the MCU. Well, potentially that is. While it stinks they missed out on some big storylines already, there is one even grander plot that they play a large roll in.

The third reboot is the charm.

Let’s wipe the original Silver Surfer from our collective brains and wish for a reboot. The only thing bigger than Thanos is Galactus in terms of world-ending events. That and the Skrulls. What will the MCU dive into first?

2 Unconfirmed: Galactus

Screen Rant

The power of Galactus is so mighty that it has to take up two places. Now, the final film in phase four will probably either be about the Skrulls, or Galactus, or maybe even both. Captain Marvel could set up the green shifters and the Fantastic Four could drum up the Silver Surfer, aka the herald of Galactus. This would then lead into a New Avengers movie. Who are the New Avengers? Well, I guess that depends on a lot of things now doesn't it?

1 Unconfirmed: Howard The Duck

Syfy Wire

Okay, look, I know including Howard the Duck on here may seem strange, uninspired, or lazy like I needed one more Marvel movie and couldn’t think of anything better. While that may be true, there is a precedent for his own movie. What if we get a duck universe spinoff wherein Howard could be blasted to Earth, or I guess an alternate Earth, wherein he meets Donald, Scrooge, and all of the other Disney ducks. It would be the ultimate quack crossover!
