Destroy decks have always done well in Marvel Snap, particularly when it comes to putting power in unassuming places, thanks mostly to Wolverine and X-23. But these two mutants lack consistency in where they land, making it less likely that they will enter places like Sanctum Sanctorium effectively.

Marvel Snap: Best Cards For A Cull Obsidian Deck
Several cards have perfect synergy with Cull Obsidian, proving that you just need a big body and some select cards on your side to handle anything.

That’s where Nimrod comes in, being a card that can be destroyed to create new bodies on the board, all the while letting you plan around the card. While Nimrod decks can’t go to the heights a Deadpool deck might get to, it has a level of consistency that lets you win games with surprising amounts of cubes.

Updated on March 2, 2024, by Alfredo Robelo: Due to balance changes, we decided to write a new version of this article with another completely different list of cards. Let's see what's best for a Nimrod deck in the current meta.

8 Carnage And Venom

The Symbiote Duo

Carnage and Venom both destroy all cards on their side of a location, but they go about it in very different ways. Carnage gets two power for every card destroyed, while Venom simply gains the power of every card he consumes.

On their own, you want to use them for very different things, since Carnage can take care of the smaller or straight up negative bodies, while Venom eats the big ones to keep the power. But with Nimrod, you have a very interesting final play, since you can kill Nimrod initially with Carnage and then eat it in another location with Venom, basically doing a 27 power play at minimum.

7 Electro

Cheating Nimrod Early

Marvel Snap Card Electro

Electro’s on reveal ability allows you to have an extra energy point for the rest of the game, but his ongoing ability makes it so you can only play one card at a time. Destroy decks have many ways to offset this, destroying Electro to get rid of the ongoing part while keeping the energy bonus.

The main strength of playing Electro in turn three is being able to follow that up with Nimrod in turn four, preferably played in the same location as Electro. This will allow you to destroy both of them on turn five, entering the final turn with not only seven energy, but also two Nimrods already on the board for you to keep spreading around.

6 Destroyer

Nuking Your Board

Marvel Snap Card Destroyer

Destroyer isn’t always added to the destroy decks, mostly due to other cards of the same cost being better finishers. Since Destroyer kills all the cards on your side of the board, it is usually difficult to justify putting him onto the deck, even if he comes with 16 power, one of the biggest numbers a six drop can have.

She's a real game-changer on turn five.

Nimrod makes Destroyer all the more enticing, since by simply playing it you make Nimrod double in power. If, thanks to Electro, you can get a Nimrod out early, you can make a turn five Destroyer play in any location, spreading the Nimrod and removing the Electro restriction in one move.

5 Knull

The Father Of All Symbiotes

Marvel Snap Galactus Deck Knull standard variant

If you’re used to playing more traditional destroy decks, you'll be used to Knull getting to ridiculous numbers thanks to Deadpool. Since you spend most of the match destroying Deadpool to double his power, Knull ends up being a considerable power play in those cases, since his ability makes his power equal to everything that was destroyed in that game.

With a Nimrod shell, Knull hardly reaches those ceilings, but you should remember that just because you can make a 40+ power Knull doesn’t mean you should. Knull with Nimrod simply gives you a considerable amount of power to put something in a location when things didn’t quite go to plan, but he can still be 10+ power with little effort.

4 Arnim Zola

Hardest To Counter

Marvel Snap Card Arnim Zola

On a Nimrod deck, you can have quite a few avenues of play, depending on what you have in hand and what locations have been revealed. If you have Arnim Zola in hand, you’re looking to duplicate something in other locations, so you should plan ahead so you can end up with only one card wherever you plan to play Zola.

One of the best targets is Venom, since each new copied Venom will have his original power, plus keep spreading the Nimrod copies all over. With Zola, you shouldn’t really worry about destroying Electro if he is in play, since you won’t need to play much beyond a single card each turn to win the game.

3 Grandmaster

Playing The Unexpected

Marvel Snap Card Grand Master

Grandmaster might seem like an odd choice to add, but he can work like an additional trigger for any of your cards, letting you have a tighter list of cards that can destroy without needing to add other things like Deathlok. Just make sure to leave room in the middle location for Grandmaster to send something in.

Since you’re not aiming for any fancy combos, you don’t need to save Grandmaster for the final turn. You could play Carnage into Wolverine, and if Wolverine happens to land in the middle, you can just send Carnage over with Grandmaster and reap the benefits once again.

2 Iron Lad

Risky But Powerful

Marvel Snap Iron Lad Deck Iron Lad standard variant

Iron Lad has the distinct ability to copy whatever is at the top of your deck, gaining its ability. This can have great outcomes for Nimrod, since you could end up with an Iron Lad that has Nimrod’s ability, essentially playing the Nimrod early and for an additional power point.

Iron Lad does ask you to be mindful of what is left on your deck, since you could end up killing something you didn’t mean to. All in all, Iron Lad works as another way to make the most of your card’s abilities, adding a much-needed redundancy in a deck that needs certain pieces to win.

1 Nico Minoru

A Bag Full Of Tricks

Nico Minoru card in Marvel Snap.

Nico Minoru is one of the most impactful one drops that Marvel Snap has ever had, having seven different abilities that change what your next card is played in a lot of ways. While she’s become a staple of destroy decks, mostly because she can destroy or give power to Deadpool, here her main targets are Electro and Nimrod.

Her ability to destroy the next card you play is still extremely valuable, since you can freely play Nimrod at turn five and still destroy it, thanks to an earlier Nico Minoru play. With Electro, not only can you destroy him but also transform him into a Demon, turning him into a six power body that won’t have that pesky ongoing ability that can harm you on the final turn.
