Just like the first game, Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is full of secrets. There’s a lot to do in this open-city of New York and it might be hard to pick the best course of action to take. A customer may also not be sure what exactly this game is meant to be.

Is Spider-Man: Miles Morales a full-on sequel or is it something in-between? What are the new features and what are the returning ones? All of these questions and more, along with some helpful tips, are coming up. Just like Spider-Man, help is always just a thwip, or a click, away.

10 More Of An Expansion, Not A Sequel

Don’t go expecting something drastically different from Marvel’s Spider-Man. Spider-Man: Miles Morales virtually takes place in the same map, albeit with snow, a few changes, and a couple of expanded areas.

It’s mostly the same combat and mechanical procedures for the puzzles as well. However, Spider-Man: Miles Morales provides a lot more than those DLC packs that came out for the last game. Miles has his own story going on and one worth investing in.

9 There Are New Powers

That said, Mikes does have a slightly new repertoire to the dodge, counter brawler from Marvel’s Spider-Man. There are a couple of new gadgets such as the remote mines that are kind of overpowered, but the main attractions are Miles’ actual superpowers.

The protagonist has electricity he calls Venom that can zap foes. On top of that, he can turn invisible. Those two things help Miles standout from his predecessor, although his personality and the game's original story also help.

8 Slow It Down, Do The Side Quests

The game is relatively short so it might be enticing to rush through it in order to avoid spoilers. Don’t do that. Take your time and absorb the city.

There are plenty of side quests that not only provide fun stories, like rescuing bodega cats, but their rewards will also make Miles stronger. Furthermore, the challenge missions may be the most crucial of all because they contain exclusive skills Miles can’t learn on his own.

7 Manually Save Before And After Missions

Whether it’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ performance or the PS5, there are some bugs in this game. One of the bigger issues involves crashing. Shutting the game down and loading it back up could fix it, however, sometimes players might reload into that same file and have it crash again.

That’s why it’s recommended to manually save before and after each mission. It’s a quick process to ensure a playthrough's progress is never fully damaged. A patch should help in the future but keep this in mind for now.

6 Trick Out Your Web-Slinging

Spider-Man: Miles Morales' Fast travel is most likely the quickest in a video game anyone will see this year. The subway system in this game is miraculous. While great, web-slinging around the city also has its benefits.

Not only can players pick up crimes that randomly generate for extra experience and tokens, but they can also earn experience just by doing tricks in the middle of swinging. It looks like Miles is trying to audition for the next Tony Hawk game. Every little bit of experience will help.

5 Stealth Gets Better

Miles will get remote mines to zap foes along with the ability to turn invisible. This helps out a lot with stealth missions. While it is important and or recommended to do the side missions, it might be best to wait to start until these two skills are acquired.

This is unfortunately about a third of the way through Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which is roughly three to four hours in. Waiting is not ideal, but these two skills should make those side quests easier.

4 Save Those Points

Side quests and hidden treasure will contain tokens. These are used to buy and upgrade gadgets and new suits for Miles. Leveling up will also earn Miles ability points.

Now, when the game knows you can upgrade a suit or ability, it will remind them to check out the menus. Ignore those prompts and save the points until they feel absolutely necessary to spend. Certain situations call for certain powers and being able to get them on the fly might be a big help in battle.

3 Smoke Out The Gunners

This might be obvious but bullets are dangerous. That’s why it is recommended to always take out the gunners first when in combat. Whether they are armed with pistols, machine guns, or sniper rifles, they are a danger to Miles and make him drop fast.

This is also recommended in Batman: Arkham Asylum, the game that both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales learned from. Ultimately, even superheroes are weak to bullets.

2 Unlock Suits, Unlock Mods

Most every suit in Spider-Man: Miles Morales has something special attached to it from reducing ranged damage to making it so webs stick longer to enemies. You do not have to equip a certain suit to gain those boons either.

Once the suit is unlocked that coinciding ability can also be bought in the mods section. Pick a favorite combo and create the ultimate Spider-Man setup for Miles.

1 Enjoy The Story Free Of Death

As it was said earlier, there is no need to rush through the story. There is too much great content to see. However, some people might prefer to focus exclusively on the story and ignore the gameplay or side content. Luckily for those customers, Spider-Man: Miles Morales has them covered.

There is a super easy mode that makes it so that Miles will always get back up even when defeated in battle. This takes away the game's challenge but it is nice to know the option is there for those who prefer it.
