Despite a surprise reveal at The Game Awards, it feels like we've been waiting for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order for years. Of course, now that it's here it's not as if it's been a smash hit of a game, with most players and reviewers alike calling it an above-average title.

However, if there's one great thing about the game, it is the massive cast. It feels like a Marvel Universe sandbox as it allows fans to play as nearly fifty different characters, with many more to come! For now, we know that there's a season pass for the Marvel Knights, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. But this list looks at other characters that could be included outside of that, giving us another 10 heroes that should hopefully make the cut.

10 NOVA

The Nova Corps and Richard Rider are already in the game, with Rider as an NPC who comes into play a few times but is never actually available to control. Unlike other heroes like Black Bolt or Medusa, there’s no reason for this as Nova has every reason to help out.

It’s not like he isn’t popular either, as the character spent some time getting his notoriety up during Capcom’s Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 title. The Nova Corps plays so similarly this could even be a way to sneak Samuel Alexander in via a palette swap and a different voice actor.

9 VALKYRIE

Valkyrie, like many of the characters on this list, is already in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 as a non-playable character. There’s also never been a better time to put the character in front of as many eyeballs as possible. Though it is a different version, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie has already cemented herself as one of the most important parts of the MCU going forward.

Furthermore, Valkyrie’s important enough in the comics now to have a series of her own. Alongside Thor and Loki, Valkyrie would bring an additional Asgardian fighter to the mix.

8 VISION

The Scarlet Witch’s husband Vision absolutely belongs in this game. The stalwart Synthezoid could have a lot of fun moves, like phasing through enemies to cause them damage or turning to stone to be a massive tank. More importantly, as Marvel gets ready to set up its upcoming WandaVision show, it’s probably not a bad idea to put Vision front and center on as many forms of media as possible.

Vision is not exactly doing anything in the comics, but it’s pretty much a given that Ultimate Alliance will be in front of more eyes over the next few months than any single comic.

7 WINTER SOLDIER

Another NPC featured in The Black Order, it just feels like too much of an oversight not to include Bucky Barnes as a playable character. Granted he’s not going to play terribly differently than someone like Wolverine or Punisher; in fact, Barnes would probably play like a mix of both.

Still, for hardcore Captain America fans, it’d be neat to have a mix of Captain America, Falcon, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and the Winter Soldier available. They could be some kind of spy or action hero combination for the game. Plus, as a bonus, they could have a costume where gets to where his Captain America outfit for maximum fanservice.

6 BLACK BOLT

The King of the Inhumans is already in Ultimate Alliance 3, although he does not fight alongside the player. Black Bolt is a bit busy dealing with a threat from his brother Maximus, but honestly, this shouldn’t exclude including him as DLC.

Between Black Bolt, Crystal, Medusa, and Quicksilver; Ultimate Alliance could even have an Inhuman royalty combination available. Black Bolt has super-strength, flight, and the ability to transform just about anything to dust with just a whisper of his voice, so the silent King would do well to work alongside the other heroes working to stand in Thanos’ way. If nothing else, Black Bolt as a playable character should make playing through Attilan a bit different.

5 MEDUSA

The Queen of the Inhumans already exists in the game, but surprisingly she isn’t a playable character. That’s something that deserves to be rectified. Of course, the argument could be made that she’s the Queen and thus shouldn’t be on the frontlines, but it’s not a very convincing one.

All of existence is at stake if Thanos gains the Infinity Stones, so someone with Medusa’s combat experience certainly shouldn’t be standing on the sidelines. Allowing players to beat up opponents via the usage of hair whips and tossing enemies into different areas (or one another) could make her incredibly fun to play with.

4 QUICKSILVER

Quicksilver has a bunch of potential pros to being included as DLC. For one thing, having Pietro alongside Captain America, Hawkeye, and his sister Scarlet Witch gives them the opportunity to do Cap’s Kooky Quartet combination, paying homage to one of the most unique eras of older Avengers comics.

At the same time, Quicksilver also has ties to the Inhumans as Crystal’s ex-husband, meaning he could also be a combination for them as well. More importantly, he should just be a fun character to have around! Quicksilver's abrasive personality and super-speed would make him interesting as a combatant and comedian.

3 WAR MACHINE

Ultimate Alliance 3 has like three different versions of Spider-Man. There has to be room for Tony Stark’s best friend, former pilot, and occasional Iron Man alternate James Rhodes. Also known as War Machine, dude’s like Iron Man except with a ton of extra munitions. Team Ninja doesn’t even have to do a lot of work to include him.

A different voice actor would be necessary, but other than that War Machine could play similarly to Iron Man, just using a palette swap to represent it being a different character. Obviously, a paid DLC character should offer more than just that, but its better than nothing. It has been done for years, and most hardcore fans looking for extra characters would find him a welcome addition to the roster.

2 SHE-HULK

Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer has been under the spotlight lately in the comics, as she’s a key member of the current Avengers storylines and future events. Even without that, She-Hulk is one of the most well-known Marvel characters that’s gotten little focus.

Granted, of late she’s been a bit more like her cousin in terms of temperament, but since Ultimate Alliance is using him in his Savage form, perhaps she could go back to her original self. Smart, powerful, and dangerous; She-Hulk would be a welcome addition to the cast, even if this isn’t quite enough to give Hulk fans their all-Hulk line-up.

1 ADAM WARLOCK

Considering how obscure they got with the roster, it is legitimately a surprise Adam Warlock is not available in the base game. The Black Order involves the Infinity Gems. As the keeper of the Soul Gem, Adam Warlock has been attached to nearly every story involving their usage in the Marvel Universe.

Adam would be great as an additional character, and could even serve as something of a boss opponent in his Magus incarnation, before being purified and joining the heroes in battle. From flight to magic and super-strength, Adam's got no shortage of abilities, so he’d be a fun addition to the group.
