When it comes to the world of superheroes, fans across the globe aren't afraid of getting their hands dirty and engaging in some petty online spats. Defending their favorite company, whether it be DC or Marvel, we've seen debates go from utterly compelling to tremendously ridiculous. And, when it comes down to it, why do we really care so much about what other people think? If we're enjoying the content being put out by one or both of the companies, surely that's all that matters?

DC audiences enjoy calling Marvel fans "zombies", with the latter always pointing to the box office and incredible critical reception the majority of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have seen. Though the debates start out civil enough, with pointed barbs and roasting of one another's favorite flicks, they often descend into madness and upset.

Arguments will break out about anything, from the state of the films being released, or the characters and actors involved in each of them. Remember the uproar when Heath Ledger was announced as the Joker? Jared Leto saw the same outbursts, as did Ben Affleck when he was announced as Batman.

Still, stoking the fires can be fun, and we have to admit that some of the Marvel Vs DC memes doing the rounds on the internet have had us crying with laughter. Whether they're pro-Marvel or pro-DC, fans from either side of the fence should be able to look at them and laugh. That's why we've decided to take a look at them today, honing in on those memes that makes fans choose their sides.

Here are 24 Marvel Vs DC Memes That Make Fans Choose.

24 One Simple Reason

Let's face it, no matter how well Marvel does on the big screen, Batman is still the first superhero to jump into the minds of the majority of people when they're asked to name a comic book character.

There's no signs of that changing in the future, no matter how many millions of fans the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to win over.

He's Batman, and that's the reason why he's the best! No superpowers... just a heck of a lot of money, will, and determination.

23 Making A Comeback

Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds may have made a splash with audiences in their roles of Bruce Wayne and Slade Wilson, aka Batman and Deadpool respectively, but their journeys in the comic book movie world haven't always been quite so successful.

Affleck first appeared as Daredevil in a panned 2003 movie, whilst Reynolds played Green Lantern in a 2011 film release which was also slammed at every opportunity. Thankfully, they've now settled into their grooves and are making a huge impact on the big screen.

22 Child Friendly?

via: instagram.com

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is something accessible for audiences of all ages; even when it comes to the villains that go up against the superheroes on the big screen. When it comes to DC Films however, there's not always space for the children to get involved!

Those at Marvel Studios clearly made a great decision in doing this, as they rake in big bucks at the box office, but with the success surrounding the likes of Deadpool, is it time they stepped their game up and catered more to adult viewers?

21 Dark Vs Light

The unofficially-titled DC Extended Universe has gained quite the reputation as being a dark and dreary place, whereas over in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there's plenty of color and fluffy undertones to keep audiences engaged.

That's exactly what the meme above is poking fun at, suggesting that DC could "be more Marvel" if it simply brightened up its surroundings, popped a smile on Superman's face, and handed him some balloons!

Surely a film's success should be based on the story being told, no?

20 Impossible!

We've already spoken about fanboys of both Marvel and DC going at one another whenever they're given the chance, but what if we lived in a world where everybody got on, and those same people realized it was okay to like both entities at the same time?!

Perhaps chaos would ensue and our real world would come crashing down around us, but if we could all learn to endure in peace and harmony, we'd probably all end up enjoying our favorite franchises a lot more.

19 A Close Call

Sad Ben Affleck has had enough, and is doing everything in his power to take out his biggest competition! OK, so we can't actually see the lovely Affleck doing this to Robert Downey Jr., but the meme above had us laughing so much we just had to include it.

What would happen if Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark met up in a crossover event for the ages? Hopefully not something like this, but we can imagine the sparks would start to fly...

18 The Critics Have Spoken

The sad Ben Affleck meme was one that took over following a Batman v Superman interview that saw him questioned about the negative reviews surrounding the movie.

Whoever made this meme however has gone one step further, adding a laughing Chris Evans into the picture and comparing Civil War's 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating at one point after release, to Batman v Superman's lacklustre 32%.

Civil War may not have kept its perfect score, but it's fair to say it did a heck of a lot better with reviewers than its DC counterpart!

17 A Wondrous Introduction

When Wonder Woman made her debut in the DC Extended Universe, fans got very excited about her solo movie release. Box office numbers and critical response echoed the love for the hero, as the Patty Jenkins-directed flick surpassed all expectations and breathed new life into a flailing DCEU.

Joining fellow heroes Superman, Batman, Cyborg, The Flash, and Aquaman in Justice League, Wonder Woman's next appearance may not have been to everybody's tastes, but it's hard to argue with how good the group looked on the big screen.

16 Out Of This Galaxy

The Suicide Squad are some of the most popular comic book misfits around. Before the Guardians of the Galaxy made their way to the big screen however, they weren't exactly Marvel's most famous characters.

So, if you were forced to pick between the two groups, who would you go for?

An obvious answer would be the more popular group, but when it comes to their respective movies, Guardians have fared much better with critics. The Squad could pull it all back, but Chris Pratt's Star-Lord and co. are currently ahead by leaps and bounds!

15 A Balanced Battle

A lot of people who argue about Marvel and DC tend to forget exactly where the stories and characters from each come from! Discussion around the movies tends to now reign supreme, but we also have to look at the animated series, video games, and of course comic books from each franchise.

Though there are some big things on the horizon for each, the meme above tends to strike fairly on the side of both DC and Marvel where they're deserved. Could it change in the future? We'll have to wait and see.

14 The Flip Side

Isn't it true that we always want what we cannot have? That seems to be the case for the majority of heroes both in Marvel and DC; though we wouldn't quite say the entire cast of Justice League could be classed as gods!

It'd also be fair to say that a lot of the Marvel roster don't want to get involved in the world's problems, but their good will and faith encourages them to stop some of the most dangerous threats to existence.

Still, we get what this meme was going for, and we love it!

13 Aren't You Forgetting Something?

This meme strikes straight to the heart of Marvel fanboys who have simply seen the entries into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rather than reading back on the history of the company, and that of DC Comics!

Sure, there's nothing wrong with just enjoying Marvel movies and not wanting to delve into the comic book world, but it's probably best not to wade into a Marvel Vs DC argument if you haven't got all of the facts! These battles can be unforgiving...

12 Keeping It Cordial

Despite seeing Superman and Spider-Man shaking hands on the pages of comic books, DC and Marvel fanboys seem to have absolutely no problem chucking aside friendliness in favor of attacking one another whenever possible.

You just have to take a look at social media to see how the most "passionate" of fanboys treat one another, and it's not a pretty sight. Those who don't choose a side are accused of "sitting on the fence", Marvel fans are called "zombies", and DC fans are regarded as "delusional"! How about living and let live?

11 No Coming Back

via: pinterest.com

We've all seen the meme of Batman slapping Robin, with various different jokes pasted onto the picture, but when Marvel's fan-favorite mutant Wolverine gets involved, the meme takes on a new life altogether.

There's no coming back from this one for Robin, as Logan waves goodbye to Batman's sidekick with one "snikt" of his claws.

We're not sure what the Dark Knight's protégé did to deserve such treatment, but he clearly got on Wolverine's wrong side. Rest easy, little bird.

10 They're Coming

Having established that there will likely be no end to the chaos that ensues between Marvel and DC fanboys, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor here promises a battle for the ages. We're not sure either side would put up quite as good a fight as the heroes of both Marvel and DC, but it's the thought that counts!

What we'd love to see however, is the Hulk duke it out with Batman; Black Widow go up against Wonder Woman; and Thor to battle against Superman. Perhaps then we'd have a definitive answer to who really rules the roost!

9 Feel The Burn

Ouch! This meme starts off with Henry Cavill's Man of Steel getting the upper hand, as he points out Disney's problem with character rights when it comes to using Marvel's heroes.

When Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark fires back with the insult to end all insults however, he clearly wins the battle!

As the Mortal Kombat voiceover guy would say, "Fatality!" Superman's face here rivals that of "sad Ben Affleck"! We're gonna need a parasol for all of this shade!

8 A Forbidden Land

Marvel fanboys would say Mufasa is trying to keep his son Simba on the straight-and-narrow here, telling the lion cub that he must never go over to DC.

Once again, this meme pokes fun at the darkness of DC's Film Universe, but for anybody who has seen The Lion King and its various sequels knows, Simba does in fact go down the dangerous path.

In fact, those who are usually banned from coming to Pride Rock eventually find peace with Simba and his group; could that ever happen between Marvel and DC? We doubt it.

7 Kids Vs Mayhem

If you speak to any DC Films loyalist, they'll tell you that Marvel Cinematic Universe movies are for children, and have fluffy, light-hearted plots that only entertain the simplest of minds.

If you then go ahead and speak to an MCU loyalist, they'll tell you that the DC Extended Universe is in chaos, and both their iterations of Superman and Batman are ridiculous, along with the rest of the DCEU roster.

Are either of them correct? Does it really matter?

6 Working Out Or Geeking Out?

Whilst the men and women of both the DC Extended Universe and the Marvel Cinematic Universe are in impeccable shape, it's fair to say we see the DCEU stars working out a heck of a lot more than their Marvel counterparts.

In fact, this meme is a little unfair, as Henry Cavill is renowned for geeking out, even starting his own treasure hunts for fans to get their hands on some exclusive items!

Putting in the work at the gym is necessary, but figuring out the history of the character you'll be playing is also essential!

5 Which Women Work?

via: dorkly.com

The Guardians of the Galaxy go up against the Suicide Squad again here, with Gamora getting a moral step over Harley Quinn in this awkward meme.

Though DC Films have done a brilliant job with their female characters, it's hard to deny Quinn is somebody who keeps going back to a bad relationship.

Not the best influential figure!

Still, she IS regarded as a villain of the DCEU, whereas Gamora is a Marvel hero, so who are we to judge?
