We all have things that most people don’t know about us. Maybe it’s that your favorite color is pink, or even that you can put your leg behind your head. There are always some things that completely go over our heads if we've never really looked at someone. It shows how much can be lost in translation when looking at somebody. Whatever we're all hiding, it probably isn’t as extreme as some Marvel superheroes and their hidden powers. From being able to learn really well, to just understanding every known language to man, it's no wonder they decide to hide their powers. Here’s looking at you, Taskmaster and Cypher.

Just about any normal power turns into a superpower when you dial it up to an eleven. It's hard to say what really constitutes as a superpower when you look at some of the characters in the comic book universe.

The Marvel comic book and cinematic universe is a massive world that has brought us countless hours of superhero action and bad guy beat ‘em ups. With all of those comics and movies, there have to be some absurd or lesser-known facts about Marvel’s superheroes. While some may be as simple as a cybernetic arm that gives you super strength or being trained as a fearless Russian, some powers aren’t as obvious. Getting down into those hidden powers that suddenly make sense, here are some of the Winter Soldier's powers and weaknesses that fans never knew he had.

20 Superpower: Semi-Immortality

http://screenrant.com/civil-war-captain-america-winter-soldier-trivia/7

When Bucky Barnes first became the Winter Soldier, he was put into an induced coma via Soviet Union scientists. He would be periodically resurrected by the same scientists for secret Soviet spy missions, only to be put on ice again and again.

Even though he appears to be in his late 20s or his early 30s, the Winter Soldier is actually 101. He could theoretically live forever with this process if he needed, but it also causes extreme memory loss. Plus, he's lost years of his life.

19 Weakness: Mental Instability

via: themasksblog.blogspot.com

Being frozen for year after year can take a real toll on your mind. Not to mention, being mind controlled for years would definitely destroy your mental state. Soviet HYDRA agents would constantly use and exploit the Winter Soldier for their own missions.

The Winter Soldier can frequently be seen not knowing who other people are and confusing them for other people. That, and having people use you for the majority of your life would lead to some serious mental instability.

18 Superpower: Rapid Healing Rate

via: marvelcinematicuniverse.wikia.com

Surprisingly enough, the Winter Soldier has a rapid healing rate, because he was given the super soldier serum, granting him powers that rival Captain America's. However, because of a serum given to him by HYDRA, he didn’t develop any changes to his personality or his mind.

The Winter Soldier has fallen from a train as well as lost his left arm, and he still survived because of this serum. He has barely survived many of the injuries he has sustained over the years due to him being frozen.

17 Weakness: Guilty Conscience

via: roguewatson.com

When your mind isn’t your own, along with your will, you’re going to make a few enemies in life. The Winter Soldier is known for being successful on his infamous mission that took place on December 16th, 1991, involving Iron Man's parents.

Bucky certainly has his share of regrets in what little part of his life he had control of, let alone the parts that he didn’t.

He’s often lamenting those who are no longer with him or those who no longer want to see him.

16 Superpower: Sailing

via: screencrush.com

Within his intense training of becoming a sleeper agent for HYDRA, he also trained to be a legendary sailor. According to his character background, he has many abilities that he doesn’t always need to use, or they are only used in rare circumstances.

Sailing is one of these, along with aviation and other useful abilities.

The Winter Soldier seems like he only has a few things he can do, but he has a few tricks up his sleeves that many people don’t know about.

15 Weakness: Lost In Time

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/givecaptainamericaaboyfriend-bucky-iron-man-twitter-marvel-disney-give-captain-america-a-boyfriend-a7044721.html

Being born in 1917 and living to be 101 will make you feel like you don’t belong. Especially being resurrected constantly without having any memories of your past, and seeing things change constantly around you without seeing the context of your decisions.

Granted, it is not as bad Captain America being gone for lots of years at a time, but Bucky saw many things come and go without ever getting to participate in them. He was robbed of his young adult life, and flung into a being a hero.

14 Superpower: Fluent In Many Languages

via: marvelcinematicuniverse.wikia.com

While being able to fly, or to conjure up portals at will are pretty cool, so it’s being fluent in about 10 different languages. From European languages to Asian ones, the Winter Soldier has a lot going for him that doesn't involve beating up bad guys... or good guys, for that matter.

The Winter Soldier uses the many languages he knows in order to infiltrate and further his spying capabilities. That and it’s also a nice party trick to show off your other languages.

13 Weakness: Memory Loss

http://screenrant.com/captain-america-civil-war-trailer-2-analysis-spoilers/?view=all

Ever have a dream that was amazing, but when you wake up you forget everything? Imagine that being every day and that you forget what you did yesterday, which is actually a couple of years ago. That’s a day in the life of the Winter Soldier.

Not being able to remember what you did in your life can lead to lead some bad things, especially if you can’t remember going on top-secret missions that ended with up with people no longer being there.

12 Superpower: EMP

via: marvel-movies.fandom.com

Hidden within his cybernetic arm, the Winter Soldier has an electromagnetic pulse that he can use to knock out any electronic within a certain area. This is a hidden ability, however, because you don’t see the Winter Soldier use it much. This is because of his own cybernetic arm. It’s kind of a last-ditch use, because if used his arm would most likely be down.

It makes sense as to why this power isn’t as used as often as some of his others, because it would shut down any of his allies' electronics as well.

11 Weakness: EMP

via: comicbook.com

If an EMP is detonated near the Winter Soldier, his cybernetic arm would be knocked offline. This is strange, considering he has an EMP to use for himself against his enemies. You would think that wouldn’t help him out that much.

It would also disarm some of the other weapons that he might have as well, making him forced to use only hand-to-hand combat, which he is quite good at, but he would be defenseless against any ranged attack.

10 Superpower: Programmable

What makes the Winter Soldier interesting is that if you say a phrase of words, you have complete control of him and he will do your bidding. This also means he doesn’t have a very good sense of preservation when completing the mission.

It’s not well-known that the Winter Soldier is "programmable," mainly because people would use it against him. It’s debatable if this is a power or a weakness, but if it gives you superhuman determination towards a goal, seems like a superpower to me.

9 Weakness: Runs Out Of Ammo

http://jandjproductions1809.blogspot.com/2011/12/something-you-didnt-know-about-captain.html

With being an expert marksman, the Winter Soldier has multiple weapons that he uses that use ammunition. While this does pack a major punch, it requires firing a lot of bullets. Where does he keep all of that ammo? Does he just never run out?

Sure, he is extremely well versed in hand-to-hand combat and extremely adaptable in guerrilla warfare, but he’s going to run out of bullets eventually. Sooner or later it’ll happen, then you can attack him back.

8 Superpower: Arm Disguise

http://www.artofvfx.com/captain-america-civil-war-vincent-cirelli-vfx-supervisor-luma-pictures/

An unknown power of the Winter Soldier is that he has a holographic ability that can disguise his cybernetic arm to look like a normal arm.

Useful in both disguising yourself as another person, or to just simply try and forget that your arm is missing.

The arm itself has many other useful hidden abilities, but this by far would be the best one to have. It would easily fool anyone not looking hard enough at his arm.

7 Weakness: Can Be Controlled

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/features/captain-america-civil-war-daniel-br-hl-interview-baron-zemo-a7005446.html

We all remember how in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War how easily the Winter Soldier can be controlled. Because he got brainwashed into being a Soviet sleeper agent, there are a series of phrases that if said correctly will trigger Bucky into becoming the Winter Soldier.

Most believe the series of words to have some significant meaning to his previous life and how he got brainwashed into being the Winter Soldier, repeating memories that were important to him and causing his mind to be vulnerable to mind control in a sense.

6 Superpower: Superhuman Will

via: marvelcinematicuniverse.wikia.com

When the Winter Soldier is on the hunt for his target, nothing will ever stop him. He is dedicated to the end and will uphold the mission no matter what. Thanks to being brainwashed, the main thing on his mind is to complete the mission.

We can see this in Captain America: The Winter Soldier when the Winter Soldier relentlessly hunts down Captain America until his brainwashing gets muddled and he walks away from his fight to figure who he really his.

5 Weakness: Hard To Trust

http://www.cosmicbooknews.com/content/new-high-res-captain-america-civil-war-image-cap-winter-soldier

While the Winter Soldier has his problems, and his fair share of baggage, it is hard to decide if he can be trusted or not. The Winter Soldier is a hard book to read, making him a very untrustworthy ally if he is on your side.

Nothing personal against him, but he is not exactly the one you would want to see babysitting your kids, unless you would want to see your kids trained in the martial arts.

4 Superpower: Expert Hunter

via: gta5-mods.com

While becoming the Winter Soldier, Bucky was trained in many different aspects but one of the ones that set him above the rest is his ineradicable hunting skill. Not just with animals, but hunting and tracking down people.

Being able to track down almost anyone he has to deal with gave the Winter Soldier a serious reputation, as well as honed his skills further to be better than anyone else in the world. This makes the Winter Soldier a force to be reckoned with.

3 Weakness: Flakey

http://davegozu.deviantart.com/art/Captain-America-Civil-War-The-Winter-Soldier-604770076

Bucky Barnes will often disappear on his allies because of his troubled past, causing him to be somewhat of a flake when it comes to following through with his friends.

He has a hard time trusting himself as seen in Captain America: Civil War, to the point where he would run from his friend Steve Rogers because he couldn’t trust what he would do. You can’t blame him for thinking that he is a menace to himself and to the world and wanting to keep others safe by not being there.

2 Superpower: Superhuman Strength

https://www.soloroboto.com/store/winter-soldier-chrome/

Being one of the few people injected with the same formula as Captain America, he also received many of the same powers that Captain America received. The Winter Soldier has been seen lifting objects much heavier than a normal human could, as well as stopping Captain America’s shield mid-throw.

While he might not be as strong and the Hulk or other superheroes, he can hold his own in fights against other strong superheroes.

His strength and his cybernetic arm give him the advantage to go further beyond normal human capabilities.

1 Weakness: Limited By Technology

overmental.com

It would seem that one of the biggest flaws the Winter Soldier faces is he is dependent a lot upon technology. His arm, his weapons, a lot of what he can do is made trivial by an EMP. While he has extraordinary hand-to-hand combat skills, he doesn’t have much else going for him other than technology.

While the Winter Soldier has a lot going for him, it’s trivialized by his overuse of technology. Not that it is a bad thing, but it does get him into trouble.
