The Marvel’s Avengers game has been out since August 14, 2020, and it will soon be getting a Black Panther expansion. Marvel’s Avengers is an RPG that focuses on reuniting the Avengers in the face of Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM), a group that swears to protect people but has something mysterious going on behind the scenes. It’s a brawler game that has received mixed reviews.

This weekend, Marvel’s Avengers is free to play on PS4, PS5, PC, and Stadia until August 1. Right in line with the free weekend, a date was officially given to the next expansion, War for Wakanda, which will be arriving on August 17.

War for Wakanda will be a free update for everyone that owns the Marvel’s Avengers game. This expansion will include the most amount of content added since the game’s launch. Some of this content includes new solo or multi player Drop Zones and Threat Sector missions, new enemies, new environments, the Royal Palace Outpost, and more.

Square Enix also noted that Marvel’s Avengers War Table for Wakanda will go live on August 16, just before the expansion is released. The War Table will include looks at gameplay, outfits, and more, so you’re going to want to keep tabs on the social media pages. In Square Enix’s words, they have some “special things” planned for the War Table, so you won’t want to miss out.

Additionally, some dedicated streamers will be active in celebration of the free-to-play weekend. You can find the full schedule (with all the information about the Black Panther expansion) here, along with a link to the Twitch channel. The streamers will be focused on different topics, but one of the main goals is to help anyone new to the game get used to it.

Square Enix also included some development and marketplace updates, such as an in-game event to coincide with the War for Wakanda expansion and a "Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame" outfit for Thor, among other features.
