Whether you have access to the game yet or not, details about the new Marvel's Avengers are starting to spill out, including just how long it really takes to beat the game's campaign. If you're curious about the time investment before diving in, here's what you can expect.

Being a games-as-a-service, Marvel's Avengers sits in a strange place when it comes to length. It does have a campaign and story missions, as well as other types of missions like dailies and ones meant to be done multiple times with friends. But many out there were drawn to this game only to live out their dreams of playing through an Avengers story. Here's about how long you can expect the game to last you just focusing on the story.

How Long Is Marvel's Avengers

If you were to only play the campaign missions in Marvel's Avengers, ignoring side missions and other optional content, you can expect the 19-mission experience to last you somewhere between 10 and 12 hours. This is all based on those with early access to the game, so the range may shift somewhat once the game is in everyone's hands, but probably not by much.

The game's developers, Crystal Dynamics, even estimated this to be the case. In a statement made last year, they said that the story was "going to be in that area, 10 to 12 hours."

Multiplayer And Side Missions

While you can technically beat Marvel's Avengers in that dozen or so hours, it will take much more time if you want to actually do and see everything the game has to offer. In that same statement, Crystal Dynamics said that playing this way would end up being in the "30 plus hours" range.

This other content includes hero-specific side missions, which can be multiple missions long, drop zone missions that appear, and hunting for better gear. Add on the multiplayer component, which for some players can add nearly endless amounts of replayability with friends, and the promise of new missions and heroes being added in the future, and the game's content will only grow.

Because all of the free updates to the game will also contain new story content, even if you only purchased the game for the campaign there will still be an incentive to return each time a new piece of content drops.
