Marvel and Fortnite are certainly no strangers to crossover events. It may seem a little strange to some for the newest Marvel game, Marvel's Avengers, to feature cross promotion with Fortnite when they are closer to direct competitors. Nevertheless, the relationship between these two giants remain strong. Even in the early beta build of Marvel's Avengers there is an exclusive new pickaxe you can unlock to wield in Fortnite. If you want to make sure you get this mean, green pickaxe skin before the beta ends – we'll show you exactly what you need to do.
The new pickaxe, called "Hulk Smashers," is modeled after the Hulk's massive green fists, but can also be changed to the Hulkbuster style as well. Unlocking it isn't too hard, but can very easily be missed.
Reach The HARM Room
In the Marvel's Avengers beta, there is a special challenge room on the helicarrier called the HARM room where you can take on different challenges for various rewards. But you can't just access this room immediately upon booting the beta up. To unlock the HARM room you will first need to play the initial A-Day mission, Hulk mission, the arctic mission, and finally the mission where Bruce Banner has Kamala go to the HARM room. After those four missions are complete, the world map will become available and the HARM room will be unlocked.
Beat The First Three HARM Challenges
Now that you can take on the HARM challenges, you will need to complete just three of them. These challenges are essentially just you and your team taking on waves of enemies in a training room that gets more difficult over time. You can pick whichever Avenger you feel most comfortable with, and the first two shouldn't be much of an issue. Beating the first challenge unlocks the second, which in turn unlocks the third.
The third and final challenge room is a steep increase in difficulty from the previous ones, so you may need to leave the challenge to go take on Warzone or other missions to raise your gear level until you can deal with the enemies. Otherwise, play cautiously and conservatively to preserve your limited lives. Use your abilities, then retreat and attack at range until they build back up.
Once you manage to beat this final challenge, you'll be given some high tier loot for your heroes and two notifications about rewards. One is a Heroic nameplate you can use when the full version of Marvel's Avengers comes out, and the other is the Hulk Smashers you've been after.
Unlock The Hulk Smashers In Fortnite
It isn't made clear what you actually need to do to get your new Hulk Smashers in Fortnite once you earn them. First, make sure your Epic account is linked to whatever console you're playing on through Epic Games. On the site simply log in, go into your account, select connected accounts, and add the account there. The last step is to link your Epic account with you Square Enix Members account on their website. Once all that is done, you can head over into Fortnite on your platform of choice and find your brand new Hulk Smashers, plus the Hulkbuster style, as one of your pickaxe skins.
