Marvel's Spider-Man Is Permanently $20 Cheaper

Marvel's Spider-Man was a big hit last year. According to Sony, the game has sold over nine million copies. It was also nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, and remains a fan favorite on the PS4. Now, just five months after release, you can purchase the game for $20 cheaper.

As Polygon reports, Sony has permanently brought the price on Spider-Man down to $39.99. Yes, if you buy the game off of Amazon, or go down to your local GameStop, you'll be able to pick up the game for that amount. This price drop may seem sudden, but it's common for PS4 titles. God of War, a notable release in 2018 as well, can be purchased for $39.99. This is in stark contrast to Nintendo games. Despite releasing two years ago, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Switch is still available for $59.99.

For $39.99, those who did not pick up Spider-Man upon release should be enticed now. The game offers a quality campaign, with loads of collectibles and side missions to accomplish. Insomniac made sure to tell a familiar, but unique story in the Spider-Man mythos. The plot has no ties to previous comics, films, or games, making it a perfect jumping on point for new fans. If you love the character of Spider-Man, comics, or games in general, the PS4 title is definitely worth checking out.

As for the gameplay, Spider-Man follows a similar pattern to previous titles, but with a more streamlined combat system. There are also plenty of stealth sections, where you're encouraged to take out enemies one by one without being seen. The game evokes the feel of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham series. The Arkham series has been critically acclaimed, and are known as the best video games based on a comic book property. While Spider-Man doesn't reach the same level of quality as those titles, it does an admirable job at implementing a fun combat system and an engaging storyline.

Marvel's Spider-Man is currently available for PS4. After completing the main campaign, you can purchase the DLC storyline, "The City That Never Sleeps" on the PlayStation Store.
