When Insomniac Games was choosing which villains to include in Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales they had an embarrassment of riches. Spider-Man's rogues' gallery is amongst the largest in comic book history and includes some of the most iconic villains of all time. Insomniac has already managed to include portrayals of well over a dozen supervillains and they still have a deep well of evil-doers to tap into for their upcoming sequel Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Even if you've jumped into one or both of the Insomniac Spider-Man games you may have forgotten some of these dastardly foes or if you're new to the franchise you may not know them all. Here is every villain in the Insomniac Spider-verse so far and their current whereabouts.

20 Doctor Octopus (Dr. Otto Octavius)

  • Current whereabouts: Imprisoned at the Raft
  • Powers and abilities: Prosthetic tentacles give him superhuman strength and mobility

Popularized by Alfred Molina's portrayal of the character in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2, Doc Ock is one of Spidey's most notorious villains. Doctor Octavius begins as Peter Parker's boss and mentor but after a tragic fall from grace, the scientist turns to a life of crime and uses his mechanized tentacles to exact revenge on Norman Osborn.

19 Norman Osborn

  • Current whereabouts: Out in the general public, focused on curing his son, Harry's, "illness"
  • Powers and abilities: Wealth, teased to potentially become Green Goblin

Though Doc Ock is the game's big bad it could be argued that Norman Osborn causes more issues for Spider-Man as he, directly and indirectly, drives many of the plot's villains. The New York City mayor is responsible for filling Doc Ock and Mister Negative with immense hatred and he brings Silver Sable and her mercenaries to New York.

18 Mister Negative (Martin Li)

Mister Negative is a vengeful villain hellbent on taking revenge on Norman Osborn. At a young age, Li was injected with Devil's Breath by Osborn which caused an explosion that killed Li's parents and simultaneously imbued Li with his unique abilities.

17 Scorpion (Mac Gargan)

  • Current status: Imprisoned at the Raft
  • Powers and abilities: Superhuman strength, durability, and his mechanical stinger can inject lethal toxins into enemies

16 Taskmaster

  • Current whereabouts: At-large
  • Powers and abilities: Capable of learning and mimicking enemy moves and fighting style

Now well-known for being the antagonist in Marvel Studios' Black Widow, Taskmaster appears in Marvel's Spider-Man as a side villain. Taskmaster's narrative thread is fairly unimportant to the game's story as he spends most of his time setting up challenges for Peter to complete.

15 Kingpin (Wilson Fisk)

  • Current whereabouts: Imprisoned at Ryker's
  • Powers and abilities: Wealth, superhuman strength, and durability

Kingpin serves as the game's tutorial boss battle and is promptly shipped off to Ryker's after being taken down by Spidey. But even in prison Fisk's reach is unwavering and his goons are a persistent threat to New York throughout the game. Kingpin is one of the few villains that appear in both Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales even though he only appears in Miles Morales via video call.

14 Tombstone (Lonnie Lincoln)

  • Current whereabouts: Imprisoned at an unconfirmed location, likely the Raft
  • Powers and abilities: Superhuman strength and near invulnerability

Tombstone is a relatively minor threat hired by Mister Negative to construct a heavily armored vehicle. Tombstone is the brutal leader of a biker gang that prefers to settle issues with his fists.

13 Rhino (Aleksei Sytsevich)

  • Current whereabouts: Unconfirmed but likely imprisoned at the Raft
  • Powers and abilities: Incredibly strong and durable while also showing heightened speed for his size

Rhino is a menacing threat that looms over both of Insomniac's titles. The towering villain is a prisoner within his own armor and longs to have it removed so he can leave his life of crime behind.

12 Shocker (Herman Schultz)

  • Current whereabouts: Imprisoned at an unconfirmed location, likely the Raft
  • Powers and abilities: Can manipulate electricity and is capable of flight

In this universe, Peter Parker reports that Electro is the first supervillain he ever brawled with. Despite his hatred for Spider-Man, Electro's true goal isn't to defeat the web-slinger but rather to become a sentient embodiment of energy itself.

10 Vulture (Adrian Toomes)

  • Current whereabouts: Imprisoned at an unconfirmed location, likely the Raft
  • Powers and abilities: Super-suit grants him the ability to fly and shoot projectiles from his wings

Featured prominently in Spider-Man: Homecoming, this version of Adrian Toomes is much older than his Micheal Keaton counterpart. The 76-year old villain is battling spinal cancer that was caused by his super-suit.

9 Hammerhead (Joseph Martello)

  • Current whereabouts: Unknown but he was either arrested or is dead
  • Powers and abilities: Hammerhead's cyborg body grants him superhuman strength, speed, and durability

Hardly a superpower, Hammerhead is known for having a bullet-proof skull after a near-death experience forced a surgeon to implant a steel plate in his skull. Hammerhead is the only villain that is seen exclusively in Spider-Man's DLC.

8 Black Cat (Felicia Hardy)

  • Current whereabouts: At-large
  • Powers and abilities: Cat-like agility and dexterity

Peter Parker's old flame is a master thief akin to Catwoman and she plays a substantial role in Spider-Man's DLC.

7 Silver Sable (Silver Sablinova)

  • Current whereabouts: Recently returned to New York
  • Powers and abilities: Expert marksman, masterful in hand-to-hand combat, incredibly agile

The owner of Sable International, Silver Sable is far from an office-dwelling leader and the intimidating combatant hails from the fictional Eastern European country of Symkaria.

6 Screwball (Unknown)

  • Current whereabouts: Imprisoned at an unknown location
  • Powers and abilities: Expert gymnast

Screwball is Spider-Man's least favorite streamer as her elaborate challenges frustrate Peter but also seem to garner quite a bit of attention online.

5 Tinkerer (Phin Mason)

  • Current whereabouts: Deceased
  • Powers and abilities: Gifted inventor that uses her creations to gain augmented strength, speed, and agility

Insomniac Games' version of the Tinkerer is one of the largest deviations from the comics as Phineas Mason was originally introduced as an elderly man. The Tinkerer has also debuted on the silver screen after subtly being introduced in the MCU.

4 Simon Krieger

  • Current whereabouts: Imprisoned at an unknown location, likely Ryker's

  • Current whereabouts: Imprisoned at an unknown location but is given a reduced sentence after exposing Simon Krieger
  • Powers and abilities: Experienced in hand-to-hand combat and uses his super-suit to enhance his physical abilities and strength

As featured in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Prowler is Miles Morales' uncle, Aaron Davis. In this narrative, the Prowler is hired by Simon Krieger under the condition that Krieger would not inflict unnecessary harm to Miles who was later captured and tortured by Roxxon guards.

2 Venom (presumably Harry Osborn)

Spider-Man's archnemesis, Venom, was first revealed in the trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 during Sony's PlayStation showcase.
