Wolverine creative director Brian Horton has confirmed that the game will sport a "mature tone."

The studio is keeping characteristically busy over the next couple of years with Wolverine and Spider-Man 2, the latest in its catalog of Marvel games. However, the gruff X-Men star has been the topic of much debate with many fans pondering whether his title will be more gruesome than the two wallcrawlers' own. Some reported that, when viewing the PlayStation store page, it required them to confirm that they were 18+ to enter, corroborating Horton's statement.

Brian Horton, who also directed Spider-Man: Miles Morales, shed a light on the game's scope. He confirmed that Wolverine will be "full-size" as opposed to a shorter tie-in as in the case of Morales. He is being accompanied by director Cameron Christian and Lead Project Manager Jess Reed.

Wolverine

However, expectations should be tempered. Wolverine is likely a long way off. Spider-Man 2 has a launch window of 2023, but Logan's launch is even vaguer than that. What we do know is that Wolverine will be exclusive to the PS5 and that it is "very early in development" according to the head of franchise strategy Ryan Schneider. How the game will play, what genre it will be, and even who is cast are all unknown as of now.

As for its setting, the trailer appears to take place in Madripoor's Princess Bar. You likely know the city thanks to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. It's a hotspot retreat for criminals, veering into the grimmer side of Marvel Comics.

You could speculate that it's a globetrotting jaunt, strapped to the singular city as in the case of Spider-Man, or that it's far more linear in the vein of Ratchet & Clank, but that's all we can do right now - speculate. There's sparse information out there to work with, so we'll just have to wait and see.
