Mass Effect Legendary Edition was meant to give us the definitive way to play through the iconic RPG trilogy. And while it made a lot of impressive changes, a fair amount of issues still remain. This can range from character animations not working as intended, to textures popping out when they shouldn't.

Unofficial LE2 Patch, a mod from Nexus Mods user Team Pyjak, fixes dozens of these oversights for Legendary Edition's Mass Effect 2. From character model issues to factual errors, fixes are made across the entire game to get it in the best condition possible. It even fixes longstanding bugs that were present in the original release and not fixed in the remaster, making this truly the definitive way to experience the sequel.

There are far too many notes for us to go over here, so here are just a handful of fixes you will get with this unofficial fan patch.

  • Conrad Verner will have the correct response to Shepard, based on their decision in the first game.
  • Speech options won't disappear when they're not supposed to, just as they do in a conversation with Liara about the Shadow Broker.
  • NPC's body skin tones now match their face.
  • Lighting errors in companion conversations have been amended.
  • Characters won't speak over the radio if they're already in your party.
  • Limbs won't contort due to animation errors.
  • NPCs wear correct faction armour.

Basically, a whole lot of small fixes add up to create a much smoother, less jarring experience. The most noticeable of the bunch are probably the animation changes, as these help characters look much more natural - something that BioWare games often struggle with.

The mod is currently in its pubic beta release, so changes are still to come. However, the feedback is all positive so far, so it's well worth checking out for your latest playthrough. Many already have, as it's amassed 6,272 downloads in just seven days.
