Mass Effect Legendary Edition has just released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It comprises the first three Mass Effect games, the Shepard trilogy, and also includes over 40 DLC packs so that players can get the full experience.
The physical edition of Mass Effect Legendary Edition includes two discs — a Play Disc and a Data Disc. However, this is confusing some players as the installation disc doesn't seem to be doing anything once inserted for Xbox One users. How to Install Mass Effect Legendary Edition
If you have internet:
Xbox One/Series X: Insert the Play Disc and it will install Mass Effect, then once you open up the Legendary Edition launcher on your console, you can select both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 to download them separately.
PlayStation 4: Insert the Data Disc, then after you will be prompted to insert the Play Disc once it has copied the data to your console.
If your internet doesn't have great speeds and you want to install Mass Effect 2 and 3 from the discs, switch your console to offline mode before inserting either disc and then follow the steps below.
If you don't have internet:
Xbox One/Series X: Insert the Play Disc to install Mass Effect, then load up the Legendary Edition launcher on your console and choose to install Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, and eventually, it will begin installing from the Play Disc. At some point, you will get an "Installation Stopped" message, so insert the Data Disc for the installation to continue.
PlayStation 4: Insert the Data Disc, then after you will be prompted to insert the Play Disc once it has copied the data to your console.
If you chose to install this way but are then connecting to the internet afterward, there will be some updates available for download immediately.
Note: If you installed Mass Effect online for Xbox and want to install Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 from the disc, it appears you need to uninstall Mass Effect and then install everything from the discs while offline.
