While there are several companies within the comic book industry, the two companies that are by far and undoubtedly the most popular of them all are Marvel and DC Comics. Whether you grew up reading the adventures of The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four heroes in the Marvel universe, or you grew up with the likes of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the Justice League, these iconic companies have gone head to head for the top spot in the comic book industry for decades.

In recent years, those companies have moved their rivalry to the film and television industry, with Marvel establishing the MCU and DC establishing the DCEU. While Marvel seems to be winning the movie battle thus far, the DC universe has dominated television over the years, with Marvel catching up with their Netflix shows. While fans have argued back and forth on which company is the dominant force in the industry, we began to ask ourselves, why not be a fan of both?

25 Captain Nightcrawler

via doubleleaf - DeviantArt

This first incredible creation from artist doubleleaf on DeviantArt has to be Captain Nightcrawler, a amalgam of X-Men character Nightcrawler and DC hero Captain Marvel, otherwise known as Shazam!

The powerful hero sports his trademark demon look with the raw power of Shazam and a cloak completing the ensemble.

The incredible attention to detail makes this a hero you want to see fighting the forces of evil on the big screen.

23 The Adamantium Lantern

via doubleleaf - DeviantArt

This next piece of art is truly special, as it combines the incredible power of the Green Lantern Corps from DC Comics with the unstoppable force that is Wolverine from the Marvel universe. While interestingly Wolverine’s rage would fit perfectly in the Red Lantern Corps, this artist instead focused on the mutant hero’s unique willpower to overcome any obstacle that comes his way, making him the perfect candidate for a Green Lantern ring.

22 The Devil Of Atlantis

via doubleleaf - DeviantArt

Two of the more brutal heroes of both Marvel and DC Comics have come together in a brilliant way in this next piece of fan art.

Here we have the devil of Hells Kitchen himself, Daredevil, combined with the King of Atlantis, the heroic Aquaman.

These two come together to bring a new form of justice to the waters around Atlantis, serving up justice the way only a citizen of Hells Kitchen would know how to do.

21 Captain Batman

via doubleleaf - DeviantArt

If Steve Rogers had watched his parents lose their life before becoming Captain America or if Bruce Wayne had enlisted in the military and gotten frozen in time for seventy years before becoming Batman, then this next hero would have found their way to the comic book pages. Meet Captain Batman, a combination of Marvel’s Avengers leader Captain America and DC’s Dark Knight and world’s greatest detective, Batman. These two heroes are selfless heroes and leaders who always get the job done.

20 Captain Wonder

via aerianr.deviantart.com

Two women who are proving that female heroes are just as powerful and awesome as male heroes in the film industry are Wonder Woman from DC Comics and Captain Marvel from Marvel. Gal Gadot brought Wonder Woman to life brilliantly in both her original appearance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and her own solo film, while Brie Larson is set to bring the iconic powerhouse hero Captain Marvel to life in her own solo outing next year, which promises to lead into Avengers 4 in unexpected ways.

19 The Spider-Lantern

via AdamTupper - DeviantArt

Everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man may have the best willpower in the Marvel universe.

This is why this next artist found it so easy to picture the web-slinger as DC’s latest addition to the Green Lantern Corps.

Whether it’s in brightest day or in darkest night, everyone in New York City will beware his power, Green Lantern’s light as the web-slinger protects his city from the villains bent on destroying it.

18 Spider-Quinn

via David De Mendoza - DeviantArt

What would happen if a teenage, Joker obsessed clown girl was bitten by a radioactive spider? She’d become Spider-Quinn, of course. Not to be confused with Spider-Gwen, Spider-Quinn is a combination of the heroic Spider-Man from Marvel and the anti-hero and villain Harley Quinn from DC Comics. Imagining an anti-hero spider character fighting off what appears to be a Bat-Goblin combination is something to be seen.

17 Captain Superman

via Savage Comics - DeviantArt

Two of the most American heroes in the comic book industry have to be Captain America for Marvel Comics and Superman for DC Comics. Captain America is Steve Rogers, an average man given a super soldier serum during WWII and getting frozen for seventy years before waking up in the modern day. Superman is an alien refugee who lands on Earth as a child and becomes a superhuman hero who protects the world from apocalyptic threats. These two heroes combined make for one of the most powerful heroes in existence.

16 Agent Batman

via masaolab - DeviantArt

Two of the most secretive heroes of the comic book industry who do whatever is necessary to get the job done has to be Batman from DC’s world and Director Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. from Marvel’s universe. The Caped Crusader of Gotham City is known as the world’s greatest detective, while Agent Fury is the leader of the world’s largest spy organization that protects the world from threats both known and unknown.

15 Beware The Bat-Spider

via rickcelis.deviantart.com

What would happen if you combined one of the most upbeat, humor prone heroes of the Marvel universe with the most stoic, serious and grounded hero of the DC universe?

You’d get one strange yet cool mashup, that’s what.

This next piece of fan art imagines what would happen if Batman became a Bat/Spider hybrid hero, taking his dark look and tone and matching it with the power of the Spider-Man.

14 The Incredible Super-Bat

via splendidriver - DeviantArt

A hero who can boast both incredible power and heightened intelligence and deduction skills would make for one worthy opponent, wouldn’t you agree? Imagine if you will a gamma-powered Superman with the detective skills of Batman, and you’d get this next artist’s imagining of three heroes combined together. Here you get the incredible raw strength of The Hulk from Marvel, and DC’s very own World’s Finest, Superman and Batman.

13 Captain Speedster

via: cbr.com

This next incredible piece of art imagines the fastest man alive himself Barry Allen, aka The Flash, if he had also started out as the first Avenger Captain America, aka Steve Rogers. The Scarlet Speedster is known as the fastest man alive.

He breaks the speed barrier to the point where time travel and inter-dimensional travel are a very real thing.

Combine that with the patriotism and selfless acts of Captain America, and perhaps Thanos would have had a much bigger problem on his hands.

12 Bat-Panther

via CBR

This next piece of art combines DC’s most popular hero with Marvel’s latest hit star. Enter the Bat-Panther, a combination of DC’s Batman and Marvel’s Black Panther. Batman is the martial arts expert and the hero all criminals fear, while Black Panther is the King of Wakanda, a mysterious nation with scientific expertise that far exceeds the rest of the world. The combined intellect, strength, and fighting skills of these two stoic heroes make them a dangerous force of nature.

11 The Fastest Men Alive

via CBR

We’ve seen the fastest man alive Barry Allen combined with a lot of other heroes over the course of this article, but none have ever had the power to compete with the Scarlet Speedster himself.

That is until they combined him with Quicksilver.

Yes, Marvel’s answer to the Flash was to create Quicksilver, otherwise known as Pietro Maximoff, a mutant and the son of the villain Magneto. The two speedsters could combine to create the fastest man to ever live.

10 The Spider-Speedster

via RobertMacQuarrie1 - DeviantArt

Two of the more upbeat heroes of both Marvel and DC have to be Spider-Man and The Flash. Peter Parker is the teen hero of Marvel Comics who gained spider-like abilities like enhanced strength and agility and becomes the web-slinger. Then there’s Barry Allen. While the modern Barry has a tragic backstory, he still manages to infuse humor and wit into his battles with the villains of Central City. Combining these two heroes is a perfect combination.

9 Iron Deathstroke

via CBR

This next piece of art imagines what would happen if an already skilled guy from DC Comics got his hands on the most powerful tech in the Marvel Universe.

That’s right, we’re talking about Deathstroke from DC getting a hold of Tony Stark’s heroic Iron Man suit to become the Iron Deathstroke.

The famed slayer and mercenary of DC is Wade Wilson, a longtime villain to the Teen Titans and other heroes, whereas Iron Man is the billionaire who became the world’s Iron Avenger.

8 Ultimate Face-Off

via JohannLacrosaz - DeviantArt

This next piece of art combined two of the biggest and most talked about films in recent years, Marvel’s Civil War and DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The first film pitted Iron Man against longtime friend and ally Captain America, while the latter film explored Batman’s mistrust spilling out into a battle with the last son of Krypton. While the first film was widely more accepted, this artist imagined Iron Man and Batman forming into one hero to battle a Captain America and Superman infused hero.

7 Iron Lantern

via: cbr.com

Imagine what would happen if one of the Marvel Universe’s biggest and smartest Avengers got a hold of the DC universe’s largest energy source.

Now you’re picturing Marvel’s Iron Man having the willpower to wield the mighty Green Lantern Corps ring, and becoming the Iron Lantern.

Combining Iron Man’s high tech suit with the cosmic power of the Green Lantern would make him a true force of nature, and could challenge the greatest threats in the universe.

6 Joker, God Of Mischief

via Nick Tam - DeviantArt

We’ve spent a lot of time looking at the heroes of the MCU and DCEU combining into incredible new heroes. Yet what would happen if two of the biggest wildcard villains in each universe were to meld together? I’m talking about the MCU’s most popular villain Loki, the God of Mischief, joining with DC’s craziest and most unhinged villain The Joker and becoming the greatest threat to ever exist. Giving the Joker Loki’s power is like giving the keys to the universe to a madman.
