The Infinity Stones are extremely powerful stones-like objects created by beings known as the Cosmic Entities. The six stones represent the six singularities of the universe, that existed even before the Universe really began. Each stone wields a mighty power, from being able to control the minds of others to warping the very fabric of reality! The Mind Stone, Power Stone, Soul Stone, Reality Stone, and Space Stone are considered to be the most powerful artifacts of the MCU. They were teased in several movies in the MCU, and in Avengers: Infinity War we really got to see the kind of power they were capable of once Thanos assembled them together inside the Infinity Gauntlet.
With not much time left until the final Avengers movie, Endgame, all those that remain after the snap have the daunting task of taking down Thanos and the Infinity Stones. But, luckily for them, the Infinity Stones aren't the only strong artifacts in the MCU. Through the 21 films and 11 franchises that make up the MCU, fans have been introduced to many weapons and artifacts that hold a lot of power, giving even the most normal of people abilities. From weapons only thought to exist in the pages of mythical legends to relics from different planets and even realities, the MCU is full of artifacts that could possibly give any one of the Infinity Stones a "run for their money."
Here is a list of the 25 strongest artifacts in the MCU that aren't the Infinities Stones, some are still around, others aren't, but we think they could give out remaining heroes they advantage they need against Thanos.
25 The Staff Of Living Tribunal
Doctor Strange features a lot of powerful mystical artifacts and relics. The Staff of the Living Tribunal is one of them, wielded by Karl Mordo. We got to see just what this seemingly innocuous wooden staff could do throughout the movie as Mordo used it to train Doctor Strange and battle against enemies. It's a melee weapon that extends and turns into chain-links, making it into a whip or a flail. It's powerful enough to send people flying through the air and can hold the weight of a person easily, as seen when Mordo used it in the Mirror Dimension.
24 Mjølnir
Though affectionately named "Mew-Mew" by Darcy Lewis, Mjolnir is one of the most powerful artifacts in the MCU. Made from the heart of a dying star, Mjolnir was a powerful Asgardian enchanted war-hammer that Thor wielded. In Thor's possession, it had a destructive force and the enchantments put on it gave Mjolnir several special abilities that included making it impossible for anyone "unworthy" to pick it up. It allowed Thor to fly and even brought him back to life in the first Thor movie. As strong as it was, it was still destroyed by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.
23 The Darkhold
It isn't just the Marvel movies that have some of the most powerful artifacts, there's quite a few of them in different Marvel television series like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The Darkhold is one of them, also known as the Book of Spells or Book of Sins it is a book made of dark matter from the Hell dimension. This powerful book supposedly contains infinite knowledge and grants whoever owns it the ability to make whatever they want, giving them instructions on how to achieve their goals. It changes itself to be written in the language the reader would understand best.
22 Spear Of Bashenga
In February of 2018, the Black Panther movie came out and we were given a deeper look at the culture of Wakanda. In its history, a war over Vibranium broke out between its five tribes. The war ended at the hands of the Warrior Shaman Bashenga who used his spear made from Vibranium.
The spear is considered to be a sacred treasure of Wakanda and had been passed on for centuries. We see it used in the movie by Zuri during T'Challa's coronation and during T'Challa and Killmonger's fight when Killmonger used the spear to end Zuri's life.
21 Cosmic Cocoon
Only seen in glimpses in both Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Birth Pods, or Cosmic Cocoons, hold one of the greatest powers in the world, the ability to create life. Cosmic Cocoons are incubators used by the gold-skinned Sovereign race. The leader of the Sovereign, Ayesha, used an advance edition of the Cosmic Cocoons to create a being capable of defeating the Guardians of Galaxy in her ploy for revenge, naming her creation Adam. Many believe that this "Adam" is intended to be Adam Warlock, a very powerful being in the comics.
20 The Eternal Flame
This powerful artifact is the Eternal Flame. Stolen by Odin from the fire demon Surtur, it was heavily guarded in Odin's Vault for centuries. The Eternal Flame is an inextinguishable flame that holds the true power of Surtur. It was taken from him to prevent Ragnarok, a "doomsday" event that prophesied the end of Asgard.
By merging the Eternal Flame with Surtur's crown he gains the power to destroy Asgard. The Eternal Flame also has the ability to bring individuals to life as it was used by Hela to resurrect her army and brought Surtur himself back to life.
19 The Book Of Cagliostro
This powerful artifact is another one from the MCU film Doctor Strange. The Book of Cagliostro is a tome about the dark side of mysticism. Hidden away in the Ancient One's private collection, Kaecilius and the Zealots stole it from the Kamar-Taj library to bring the evil Dormammu to Earth. The incantations within the book have supposedly caused many students to lose themselves to the dark side of mysticism and even Stephen Strange was warned about the book's power when he used it to train. Despite how dangerous the tome is, the warnings are only written after the incantations.
18 Panther Habit
One of the most powerful artifacts in Wakanda's history and culture has to be the Panther Habit. Since the time of Bashenga, the Panther Habit had been worn by the King of Wakanda, who also becomes Wakanda's protector, the Black Panther. Made from a vibranium composition, it makes the one who wears it bulletproof and enhances their durability. It also gives them deployable vibranium claws that are extremely strong and razor-sharp. In the Black Panther film, T'Challa has an upgraded version of the habit that allows him to deploy the Panther Habit from the teeth of a ceremonial necklace.
17 Dragonfang
There are a lot of powerful artifacts in the MCU that are swords, and the swords featured here are not only one of the strongest but one of the coolest sounding ones too. The Dragonfang is a sword wielded by the Asgardian Brunnhilde, better known as Valkyrie. Valkyrie came to have the last Dragonfang in existence after the rest of the Valkyries were defeated by Hela and she was the only one left alive. With the Dragonfang sword, Valkyrie was able to destroy a spaceship and take down several of Hela's Berserkers with single blows.
16 Heart-Shaped Herb
This "artifact" is different from the rest of the items on the list. The Heart-shaped Herb is a native plant to the African country Wakanda. In Wakanda's traditional history, a large Vibranium meteorite crashed into Africa and the radiation from the crash affected the plant life around it, including this herb. The Heart-Shaped Herb grants several enhanced abilities to whoever consumes it. Rulers of Wakanda ingest it in a special ceremony to take on the mantle of the Black Panther. It also allows them to enter the Ancestral Plane and commune with their ancestors.
15 Staff Of One
The Runaways is a television series of the MCU that features six teens who discover the dark truth about their parents and come together to oppose them, and escape from them. One member of the group is Nico Minoru and she wields the artifact known as the Staff of One. The Staff of One is a weapon created from the technology of the Gibborim, an alien race of being made out of light. It has the power to read what its wielder desires and bring it forth, with limitations.
14 Cloak Of Levitation
Aside from the Infinity Stones, one of the most iconic artifacts in the MCU has to be the Cloak of Levitation. Not only does it give Doctor Strange his signature look, but it also provides him with the ability to hover in the air and fly. The Cloak of Levitation seems to have sentience as not only does it move and act on its own, it seemed to have genuinely cared about Doctor Strange. It chose Strange during his first battle with Kaecilius and both protected and assisted him in his fight.
13 Gungnir
Thor wasn't the only one from Asgard that wielded a powerful artifact. His father, Odin, did as well and his artifact was the magical spear called Gungnir. It was powered by the Odinforce and served as a symbol of both the ruler of Asgard and Asgardian power. It seemed to have a number of enchantments and abilities imbued within it, including power over the Destroyer, ability to fire energy blasts and even had the ability to open and close the Bifrost Bridge, without the aid of Hofund.
12 Casket Of Ancient Winters
Another artifact from Odin's Vault is the Casket of Ancient Winters that once belonged to the Frost Giants of Jotunheim. It was once used by the king of the Frost Giants, Laufey in an attempt to enslave the Earth by creating a New Ice Age. The casket has the ability to create an infinite freezing wind that can be used to either freeze enemies or freeze an entire landscape. It was later stolen by Loki and used to freeze Heimdall and the Bifrost Bridge open so he could harness the bridge's energy and use it to destroy Jotunheim.
11 The Cauldron Of The Cosmos
Most people would think that an artifact should be shown a certain level of respect. Or at the very least not used as exercise equipment. We don't get to see what the Cauldron of the Cosmos does in any of the MCU films, but its apparently a very important artifact as Doctor Strange become very annoyed at Tony stark leaning against it and even uses the Cloak of Levitation to make him stop touching it. In the comics, the Cauldron of the Cosmos is a powerful scrying tool used by Doctor Strange to ponder about the universe.
10 Hofund
Hofund was another Asgardian weapon that wielded great power. It was called the Bifrost Sword, as its primary purpose was to open the Bifrost Bridge, allowing Asgardians to travel instantaneously anywhere within the Nine Realms. We first see it wielded by Heimdall who not only uses it to open the Bifrost Bridge but also uses it to activate a shield that surrounds the central palace in Thor: The Dark World. It was used as a weapon by Heimdall in Thor: Ragnarok and then used one last time to send the Hulk to Earth, using the sword's enchantments.
9 Vaulting Boots Of Valtorr
While these boots might not be the most fashionable ones in the MCU they are the strongest ones. The Vaulting Boots of Valtorr are a pair of mystically enhanced boots. We see them worn by Karl Mordo in Doctor Strange.
With them on Mordo's ability to jump and leap are greatly increased and it allows him to walk on air for a short amount of time. It also gives him the ability to safely touch down on the ground and not suffer any of the adverse side effects of impacts from high landings.
8 Monolith
Even before the Captain Marvel movie, fans of the MCU were familiar with the Kree and the kind of power they had at their disposable. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D introduced us to a set of Kree artifacts known as Monoliths. During the Kree's creation of Inhumans, they built this stone constructs to get rid of the Inhumans. Monoliths have the ability to transport certain objects and individuals. Throughout the series several different organizations including, S.H.I.E.L.D, HYDRA and even NASA used them for their own goals.
7 The Destroyer
Odin has a lot of powerful artifacts within his possession, locked away in his vault. And quite a few of them are taken from enemy forces like the Jotuns, but the Destroyer is one artifact that is purely Asgardian. The enchanted automaton acted as a guard of the Weapon's Vault. It functions to only serve the ruler of Asgard, and when Loki took over the throne he sent it to Earth to take out Thor. The Destroyer wields the power of the Odinforce, which it shoots from its head, and is so powerful that it can vaporize any living being.
6 Crimson Bands Of Cyttorak
One of the oldest relics on this list is probably the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak. These bands were made by Babylonian blacksmiths in the 900s BC. Stored in the New York Sanctum with the Cloak of Levitation, Doctor Strange uses the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak to restrain Kaecilius during his battle with him. Strange, not really knowing how to use them, throws them at Kaecilius and luckily it works. The Crimson Bands of Cyttorak were destroyed by the Zealots when they freed Kaecilius from them.
