Hope you’ve gotten your measles shot because there might have been a potential outbreak at the Evolution Championship Series.

EVO

EVO is one of the biggest fighting game tournaments in existence, so it brought in spectators and competitors from all over the world. According to the Southern Nevada Health District, one of the visitors may have had measles. The report said that a person infected with measles was around the Mandalay Bay and Luxor Hotel between August 1st and August 6th. EVO just happened to be held from August 2nd to the 4th. A lot of the tournament happened in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and the Luxor Hotel was the site of meetups.

Right now, it’s not clear if the person that had measles was an actual event attendee or not, especially since the Mandalay Bay Convention Center wasn’t listed in the report. However, measles can be very contagious. Even if the alleged infected individual wasn't there for EVO, they could have easily spread the disease to an attendee. With that in mind, the Health District is currently advising people that were possibly exposed to “review their immunization status and contact their health care providers if they are not fully immunized against measles or have not already had the disease.”

Measles symptoms can pop up around 21 days after exposure to the virus. The SNHD says that those infected will develop a fever about 10 days after exposure. Tells include cough, runny nose, and rashes. Anyone who attended EVO should get in contact with their healthcare provider just to be safe. According to PolygonEvo representatives said that they haven’t heard of any reports of attendees affected.
