Back in November 2019,  Mega Man Series Producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya revealed that the upcoming Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection would be delayed until February 2020, one month from its original release date. Now, Tsuchiya has shared additional information on the delay, as well as took some time to talk more about the collection's new content.

The information comes from Siliconera, who interviewed Tsuchiya and shared his responses on the platform. Talking about the delay, Tsuchiya stated how he was worried at first because he was afraid that the fans would not appreciate the delay and would feel disappointed or make "harsh comments." In reality, however, fans took the delay well and wished support to the development team. In return, the team was grateful for the support and ensured that the game would deliver a higher quality experience upon release.

In regards to the delay's YouTube announcement, Tsuchiya stated how it was actually a request from the Mega Man team at Capcom USA. Specifically, the producer said that "We don’t typically take this kind of approach in Japan, so we were a bit skeptical about the idea. However, it seems our sentiments reached the Mega Man community through this video, and we’re glad that we agreed to create it."

Tsuchiya also took the time to answer some questions about the collection itself. For instance, the producer said that work on the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection started shortly after the Mega Man X Legacy Collection was done, and how it was created by the same team.

As for the newly added Z Chaser Mode, Tsuchiya explained where he got the idea from. While the team was brainstorming ideas for a new mode, they came across a YouTube video of speedrunners participating in a Mega Man speedrun tournament. "When we saw the participants’ serious expressions and their passionate fans supporting them, we wondered if there was a way to recreate this type of excitement for people at home," said Tsuchiya. As a result, this is what drove the team to create Z Chaser Mode.

The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection will come for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms on February 25, 2020.
