An accidental listing of Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection on the PlayStation store in Hong Kong prompted Capcom to later confirm that it's indeed slated for release in 2020.

Mega Man began over thirty years ago with the release of Mega Man in 1987, a game that was praised by critics but ultimately sold poorly. This didn't deter Capcom and they went on to create a laundry list of titles for all sorts of platforms, even re-releasing many of the classic games for use on mobile devices.

The developers most recent installment in the series, Mega Man 11, once again received high marks from critics and consumers, selling over one million copies worldwide as of February of this year. The games last collection series, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, was released in August of 2017 and allowed consumers to enjoy Mega Man 7, 8, 9, and 10. Now, after right around two years, accidental listing on the Hong Kong PlayStation Store confirms that a new collection will soon be on its way.

It's always good to see a company show love to its fans by releasing collections like this. It allows consumers to enjoy a large selection of games without having to change discs every time they want to play something new, and it would be nice to see more developers do this in the future.

Information related to the leak comes courtesy of Gematsu who goes on to say that it's highly likely that the new collection will be available on the Switch, Xbox One, and PC, as prior collections have been made available on various platforms, something Capcom later confirmed. Additionally, information on the PlayStation store indicates that Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection will encompass Mega Man Zero 1,2,3 and 4, as well as Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent. The listing goes on to state that consumers who purchase the collection will also gain access to both artwork and music from the games, as well as other items not specifically mentioned. Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch starting on January 21, 2020, at a price of $29.99.

With the increase in the number of "leaks" lately, it seems almost certain that companies are doing this on purpose as a sort of marketing tactic. Given the large amount of games within the collection, the starting price seems more than fair.

It's pretty impressive to see a franchise last as long as Mega Man has and if Capcom continues to adapt to the changing market it stands to reason that the series will continue. Hopefully, the next collection's success will lead to an eventual remaster of some of the older games within the series.
