If you ask me, the Mortal Kombat DLC characters are getting a little bit ridiculous. I understand that it’s cool to have characters from movies, but it all just seems a bit random and pointless to me. Rambo being in there only shows how far the Rambo franchise has moved from being “soldiers will always carry the trauma of war with them” to “fuck yeah I love war,” and in general the DLC characters just feel a bit naff and Fortnite-y, don’t they? Rather than fight it though, I’ve decided to lean into it. That’s why it’s time for Megan Thee Stallion to join Mortal Kombat.

For one thing, let’s just look at the balance of DLC characters. In Mortal Kombat 11, the extra characters from outside franchises - as opposed to old MK characters being brought back into the fold - are all male. There’s Terminator, the Joker, Spawn, and RoboCop, following on from Jason Voorhees, Predator, and Leatherface in Mortal Kombat 10. The closest you’ll get to a female character from an outside franchise is the Xenomorph from Alien in Mortal Kombat 10, and these creatures are not classified into male or female categories in any case, so it’s not that the Xenomorph is a new female character, it’s that they’re not really a male character. That’s the closest we get to having women as DLC add ons. Even the Mortal Kombat 11 leak, which turned out to be false, was for another male character in Evil Dead’s Ash. There’s too many many man, we need some more girls in here, is what I’m saying.

As you may be aware though, Megan Thee Stallion is not the only woman in the world. If that was the only criteria, there would be plenty of people in front of her. Luckily for Hot Girl Meg, it’s not.

Megan thee Stallion Mileena Mortal Kombat

Megan Thee Stallion has even already been in Mortal Kombat, kind of. In a recent advertising campaign for the release of Kombat Pack 2, Thee Stallion uploaded a video of herself dressed as Mileena, one of three characters joining the game in said pack. Yes, that included the teeth and it looked phenomenal. Anyway, there were some tongue-in-cheek requests at the time that Meg be added to the game as an alternative skin for Mileena, but since then I’ve decided that actually, she deserves a spot entirely of her own.

For one thing, Megan Thee Stallion absolutely loves Mortal Kombat. She has previously streamed herself playing (she mains Mileena, obviously) and has frequently talked about her love of video games, anime, and other parts of geek culture, both in her lyrics and in her interviews. Prior to the Mortal Kombat ad campaign, she had cosplayed as Mileena several times too. It’s always much more enjoyable for everyone involved when DLC characters are the result of passion and not product placement, so Tina Snow’s love of Mortal Kombat shouldn’t be discounted. Remember how excited Sakurai was when he got to add Terry Bogard to Super Smash Bros Ultimate? Megan Thee Stallion would be that, but for Mortal Kombat. As well as that though, Meg just seems perfect for the fighting game genre.

She has a few alter egos - not to mention that her real surname is not actually Thee Stallion - which could each have their own skins; or dare I suggest, their own fatalities? If Megan Thee Stallion, Hot Girl Meg, Megan Pete, and Tina Snow each had their own slightly different fighting style, MTS could seriously shake Mortal Kombat up. She also survived being shot, which is exactly the sort of badass attitude she’ll need to get back up after Scorpion rips her spine out. At 5 ft 10”, she has considerable reach too. Make no mistake, Megan Thee Stallion is a serious contender.

Look, some character DLC requests for fighting games are just odd these days, and while this is probably never going to happen, it makes more sense than most of the characters already on the roster. I’m never getting Megan Thee Stallion in Mortal Kombat and you’re never getting Geno in Smash. That’s alright. Let’s dream together anyway.
