Meta has announced a brand new VR headset called the Quest Pro during Connect 2022, calling it the company's "most advanced headset yet." The Quest Pro will launch on October 25 and costs a pretty whopping $1,499.99.You do get some bang for your buck though, as Meta has detailed the hardware going into the headset via a new blog post on its official website. The Quest Pro comes with all the gadgets that you might expect, such as a dock and a couple of Touch pro controllers, but the headset itself features ten advanced VR/MR sensors, 256 GB storage, 12 GB RAM, and a Snapdragon XR2+ Qualcomm processor.The website also includes a large list of apps that will be compatible with the Quest Pro, as well as the promise that the headset will be backward compatible with apps and games on previous headsets. Although, it's worth noting that the site doesn't actually list any games that will backward compatible. If you feel like spending even more cash, you can also find pricey accessories such as headphones and a PC link cable on the same post. The headset is currently up for pre-order via the official site or select retailers.
It seems like more and more companies are going all in on VR these days, and another that could potentially be gearing up to announce a new headset is Valve. It hasn't been officially announced that a new headset is in the works, but a recently found job listing pretty much confirms the existence of a new VR headset being worked on under the codename "Deckard." Let's just keep our fingers crossed that it's at least a little bit less expensive than Meta's new offering.
