Metarama appears to have been canceled, although worryingly, nobody seems to be entirely certain about that.

The summer is coming to a close, which means festival season has almost come to an end. Well, outdoor festivals anyway. If you've got a big enough area to hold a festival under a roof then you can plow on ahead, regardless of season. That's why new addition to the festival circuit Metarama isn't scheduled to take place until later this year. October 19th and 20th, to be exact.

Metarama seems set to be quite the spectacle too. Taking place in Las Vegas and brought to you by the curators of Lollapalooza, the festival combines the world of music and gaming and has names such as Marshmello, Snoop Dogg, Ninja, and Logic on its impressive lineup. However, according to ESPN, Metarama is no longer happening.

The site reported that sources informed it of such this past weekend. It has also been reported that Metarama influencers have been informed of the decision to cancel the festival too. However, at the time of typing this, tickets remain on sale on the Metarama website. With some of those tickets costing just shy of $1000, that's a lot of money to fork out for something that might not even be happening.

Those steep ticket prices might be one of the reasons sales of them have been so low, hence the festival's reported cancellation. However, there are tickets available for as low as $140. Aside from famous musicians and gamers performing, festival-goers will have the chance to see four Overwatch League teams in action, and witness League of Legends pros go up against a few lucky average joes.

Alas, if the rumors are true, none of that will now be happening. What's surprising about all of this is the lack of word from some of the bigger names who are scheduled to appear at Metarama. Ninja isn't normally one to keep quiet in the midst of controversy. All we hope is that the right news gets out there one way or another, and we don't have the video game industry's answer to Fyre Festival on our hands.
